Thanking People For Subscribing

But I know people who prefer not to have it on their wall. Check their wall to see if other people have posted thank you pics to be safe!

Actually something I was wondering myself.
Also how are you supposed to answer at the thank you messages people give you? are you even supposed to answer? if you don't answer anything, the person will think you don't care about their work? should you draw them a thank you message in exchange? but then there will be no end to the thank you messages exchange if they draw again something back to thank you for their thank you message?

I usually reply 'It's my pleasure!" or something and then maybe give some specific compliment about their work.

I do it and it feels nice when people post it on my wall too, it is good to know that author recognized my subscription, so it is probably important to them. I think there is nothing bad in thanking every person who decided to read and subscribe to your comics, especially doing it with cute picture.
I do hesitate sometimes about empty walls, not knowing if person is deleting all these pictures, or that people just don't send them anything...
There was one time I did this in Deviantart and the person was very rude to me because of it, but if someone doesn't want these pictures to be on his wall, they should just write it on that wall, people will notice that. Also, I personally think one shouldn't really reply anything to this thank you message, only if he really wants so

There is actually the possibility in your settings to forbid comments / post on your wall from "strangers" alltogether. So you could excuse yourself with "oh sorry, you didn't deny me so I thought".

Edit and correction (April 6th) : There actually is not? I only noticed people I couldn't post on their walls. I assumed without checking first if there actually was a button of some sort to do that. Apparently there is not and this might be a different situation. Sorry for the misconception I may have caused ...

I think for myself (now) that thanking the reader for actually reading isn't a bad habbit at all. I am thanking the persons who are making my creation possible after all! I may have the ideas, but the drive and HIGH of people actually reading it concludes to me to gratitude.

I of course have my card, but I also always make an individual text when I thank them. Not just "thank you" but "Thank you [insert Name]." Like "Thank you, Mal, for making this thread". ^^

I don't think they are bad, but in the current way Tapas works, I feel they are more a problem than an advantage.

I don't personally think we need more notifications that are not really necessary for our reader and creator experience. I also don't see the point of being able to put our library private if it will be put public on the wall. I know there is some control here, but it feels rude to remove unwanted but harmless posts. So I decided to not post anymore on people's walls unless prompted to do so.

This being said I don't mind that much if people do it on mine. I'm just generally not too enthusiastic about the whole concept of privacy options proposed but impossible to obtain anyway, so I don't want to be part of the problem by posting unasked for material.

there's people who do them and people who dont
i know some (like me) find them a tad bit annoying, and distracting to people who go on my wall For My Comics and are presented with a bunch of other comics (personally i dont like the promotional aspect that gives either)
a way around that might just be PMing them ? but honeslty, your readers already know you appriciate them reading, just keeping up a good posting schedule, and interacting in the comments, can be enough on its own!

I think it's a good opportunity for someone with a webcomic with fewer subs to thank every subscriber. It reinforces a connection between you and your new reader, and they might be like "Hey what was that comic I just subscribed to?" and they might click through to your page and give it another look.

I used to thank all my subscribers until I got over 1000 in one day... then I was too daunted by it XP

Personally, i don't really like it when i'm bombarded with those thank you messages, It just spams my wall. Just know that i appreciate your work by reading them and not being spammed instead.

There has actually been several post about this, here are two I remember from recently:

I recently started uploading a comic here and being active on the website instead of mobile app, and I noticed that many (mostly unknown) creators post "thank you for subscribing" graphics on other people's walls. I wonder if it's a normal thing to do to make more people see your work or is it seen as annoying and desperate?

So I've been around a while and I noticed that I didn't have a "Thanks for subscribing" Picture, so I decided To make one, and it looks just superb. Actually, that kind of piece of stock material often looks really awesome, so why not? let's share everybody! share your "Thanks for subscribing " picture. Here's mine [image]

Personally I like them. I have actually found quite a few comics I like from seeing their thank you posts on other's walls. One thing I try and do though is if I see they are also a creator, or they have their library set to private then I will send it as a private message so it doesn't appear on their public wall.

Where is this setting? I posted a topic on this forum a while ago asking about the possibility to disallow comments on my wall, and was told it was not possible. I'm one of the people who dislikes getting these thank-you posts, and have found that having a post up asking authors not to leave one does not actually deter everyone.

To be honest: I don't know. I just noticed that on some peoples walls I cannot post anything. So maybe I made a false assumption and it is something else ... Sorry if that that's the case, I didn't want to spread wrong informations.

What I suggest though maybe is a small notice for people on your own wall to tell them to refrain from a thank you-batch. That of course leaves the possibility open that people will not read it but that are the chances, right?

Yeah, I was told that the people with inaccessible walls are unverified mobile accounts.

I do have a notice on my wall asking authors not to leave thank-you posts, but as I said, this has not stopped everyone.

I like the thank you notes, it's always a sign of appreciation and recognition for subscribing. Also, there are people that have great images to thank with!

Unfortunately, I can't send out any images at all because suck at drawing, so I compensate by creating a personal message for each new reader I get.

I view thanking people for subscribing as a form of appreciation. I view it as good etiquette.

I view a thank you for subscribing post that has a picture as a higher level form of appreciation, since time was involved in making the picture.

I think it is totally fine. I did for a while, but I couldn't release the thought somebody may not like it... So I stopped. Even if it's a good ad opportunity as well. :>

I also tend to think it's okay, mostly for being standard fair here! There are individuals who have nothing on their wall, but have been here awhile -- I tend to be a bit more hesitant in those cases.

However, if I'm not mistaken, I think you can lock your wall to disallow others from posting.We made animated thank you images for this purpose.
