That one thing you rebuy each time

So I want to ask what is the one thing that you have no matter what... when it gets remade, remastered, or whatever... that you rebuy each time because you love it and hits all the good memories for you? And Why?

For me,I love all Zelda games. But my special love goes to Links Awakening. In the dark days pre proper internet and game guides, I didn't own the game but I didn't have to get it myself for a long time. It was the first game I could figure out and beat on my own. I was the first kid in my neighborhood to figure out how to get past that pesky raccoon. it's what started my love for Zelda and me realizing RPG games could be fun for me.

It's silly maybe, but I love it.

No matter what, I will always buy Bagel Bites.

I'm a late 90s, early 00s kid, so this takes me back to that era. My mom would record my favorite shows on VCR, and I'd spend the afternoon watching them over and over, just popping Bagel bites in my mouth.

And if they were still around, I'd still buy the Dessert Lunchables:

Yeah, I think "food" is my only possible answer too. Edit: but the food industry galms that up eventually. All my former favorite consumer foods have been monkeyed with. Does anyone else remember when Pringles were actually good? And when there were peach Jolly Ranchers? Whyd you get rid of my favorite?! And raise your hand if you remember back before there were blue M&Ms, before there were red M&Ms, there used to be tan M&Ms. I loved those...

Anyway, the things I liked 10 years ago are not my favorites now. (Except sex.) I think probably when I'm another decade older I'll have a whole new set of favorite things too.

I wouldn't necessarily say I 're-bought' it, since I didn't pay money the first time I watched it, but when Skip Beat got an English dub, I pre-ordered it in an instant. My sister and I adore the manga series and the biggest problem we ever had with the anime was that it only has the one season. This means it never got to so many amazing characters including my sister's favorites, Cain and Setsuka Heel, the siblings who are dangerous in more than one way. Still, I watch or read the series every Valentines Day (because a story about someone who's sworn off love is my idea of a good use of the day).

I first started buying this back in 2005...all of sudden, stores in my area stopped selling it. 5 years ago they started back selling it again. I love popcorn, but I love THIS popcorn more than of all them...I've been buying this non stop since 2014- I'll occasionally switch it up and get a "movie theater butter", but I always go back to this.

There is just something about Jolly Time that sets it apart from the rest. Thankfully I've never seen this go missing from store shelves here.

I'm careful now because my financial situation is not great, but I do have a certain tendency to accumulate useless amounts of versions of a few things. Generally books or music I like, but it's not necessary my top favourites. I don't necessarily know why I compulsively collect some and not others.

Books: I have to get every version of the original, or of modern English translations, of Beowulf and of Gawain and the Green Knight that I came across. How could I let one behind?

Music: the worse culprits are Elgar's Sea Pictures and Mahler's fourth symphony. At least, with classical, I collect different versions. The same can't be said with metal. I have many variations of the exact same albums of Opeth, Orphaned Land and Ne Obliviscaris, some unopened, and I still feel compelled to buy any new edition. This is fully ridiculous. A lot of them are vinyls and I did not get my turntable out of storage for years...

I will always buy Subway cookies.

Listen - I love baking, and my favorite thing to bake are chewy cookies (they take like less than 10 minutes to bake but like 30 minutes to prep, and you can eat them when they're still warm, okay). But gathering all the ingredients are super expensive! and baking is time-consuming!

Then I started buying Subway cookies (I haven't eaten a single Subway cookie since I was a kid) and let me tell you - there is no greater joy than biting into a glorious, chocolate-y chewy Subway chocolate chip cookie. I've been bringing them to school so much that my classmates are like "I'm pretty sure she's gonna get diabetes soon".

Final Fantasy VIII

I got my first copy on PSX when I was fifteen off a friend, only to discover his disks were scratched right at the climax of disk 1, so I bought a new copy.
Then I got a PSP, so naturally I got a digital copy of FFVIII to go on there and my PS3 and Vita (so this is one copy, but installed on three consoles, so you could count it as three copies...).
Then the PC HD version came out, so obviously I had to get that on steam...
And now there's the remaster, which I have on the switch.

Yeaaaaaah I own five copies installed across seven platforms of the same 1998 PSX game about drama llama teen mercenaries.

They were cheap, but got the job done. I had a phase where all I would ever use was mechanical pencils to write & draw. I didnt start using regular pencils again until I went to art school.
