Good morning everyone,
new morning routine, back view Loomis.
I changed my daily routine since a few days
and I´m writing a journal about it for myself.
It includes excercise, music and drawing practice

@Lensing you make me wanna find and read Loomis :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

@Legendofgenii @l_vi I hope you're alright guys, haven't heard from you in a while!

"Before you get out of your comfort zone, get in it".
Well, you know what I have. A comfort zone.

I started with just a portrait, but I know now I need to use a bigger brush and work from afar without thinking much about details for these kind of sketches I am trying here.

@Kelheor the Loomis books are all great
"figure drawing for all it´s worth" is the best one imo.
I like the Loomis method to draw heads but I only use it
as a foundation for more advanced techniques.
It´s probably the same with figure drawing, I think it´s good
to learn a lot of techniques and then use them all in combination.

I didn´t know what to practice today, so I tried something out of my
comfort zone. Animals are 1) out of my comfort zone

Finished up a new OC ref early this morning since I couldn’t sleep

I’m Burning oooooooouuuuuuuuuut (somebody get the fire extinguishers ready!) Just Gotta make it over this last hump (5 panels) and then I get a vastly different scene to create and enjo (and pull my hair out over). I was hating my pencils for this particular drawing, but had a feeling that if I lost myself in the inks, I’d find my way to an image That I dug. Never thought I’d prefer inking to pencils, but life is strange like that.

By the way, this is ASL for “stupid” which seems kinda culturally insensitive (but since it probably came first and happened independently, it could bring some fun misunderstandings with some kuwaii characters in coversation.

Been sick the last couple of days so I've been sticking with just doing the layouts of the comic since they're quick and easy. I'll do the finishes for them later in the week.

BTW "Finishes" goes like this;

  1. Figure construction.
  2. Background construction. Normally rough backgrounds would be in the layouts too, but the two panels there are dialog heavy so backgrounds won't be drawn.
  3. Extra construction for tricky stuff like guitars
  4. Inking all that stuff.
  5. Filling in blacks.
  6. Adding whites for last minute corrections, effects, and style.

Adding text and balloons is a whole other effort.

@Kelheor I’m alive, and enjoying seeing everybody’s work here. :grin:

I’m swamped with work at the moment, but here’s a sketch of Sir Barrett dressed in the armour worn by Siren city guards.

And some work related drawings. :fish:

Wanted to do a quick sketch of my poor rejected babbu :cry_01:

Heyyyy. So, uh, I need some advice on mylast post. I really don't like the background color (or background ideas overall!), and I want to use it as my thumbnail. Any ideas on what color to go with? If I can find the picture, there is a scene right before it of the MC from waist up. ;;

Edit; this pic

Any advice?

Hmmm I do like the lavender you already have. Maybe try a lighter/less saturated version of that? If you want to move away from purple completely, I think a baby blue or light orange/yellow might look good too

You're going to want to choose either a complimentary color to the green of her eyes/leaves and the blue flowers (so something in the blue-green family as well) or a contrasting color to them (basically turn on the color picker that has a color wheel and aim right at the opposite side of your blues and greens, which should be an orange-red). Those would be the easiest go-tos for color theory.

Started the sketch for the little Halloween activity webtoon canvas discord server is doing! Hopefully I finish in time

@Legendofgenii those are amazing! I wonder if people ask you for tattoo designs :heart_eyes:

@Mallory ohhh, thank you! So many of them too :open_mouth: didn't expect him to be so versatile!

@Lensing I will now imagine your mannequin guys doing morning sun salutations :grin:

Okay I will try my best to keep those under 20 minutes for this level of details. It's kinda unnerving, but I need to try and make stuff quicker and be more confident.

Artemis when she stumbles on that new Lego Dreamzzz cyan/magenta bunny in a store and simply wonders… is this me?

(Dear god, I am not accusing Lego of copying me, 30 people have read my comic :joy: )

For an upcoming project.
