@AfroAtelier When it come to traditional, much of my "shading" choices are influenced by the subject's developing shape, line, and textures right now. So it's basically studying how the elements of design suggest's what I should try from a principal point of view. After that it's just reworking/redoing repeatedly everything until it feels organically supported and principally consistent. I don't have color theory in my pencil work (aside from black and white) so texture is what I kind of listen to the most with animals since they pop. So like the Scizzor is awesome to me because the way you use the natural shapes in conjuction with color contrast creates an organic shadow direction. So how much you emphasis it influences where the light "should" be depending on the overall mood and how artificial/natural the light source is. Hopefully that blurb is somewhat helpful.

@Calculus_Homework I love the way you draw fabrics

@wispysing hopefully you feel better. These are awesome

@migxmeg I love how skillfully balanced the second study looks.

Hope you had a happy Birthday Thread and I see youe were fed lots of awesome sketches from everyone  :birthday: Treating the thread like a living thing here XD

just a simple sketch i did on lunchbreak.
One of my fave things is working on the abilities so it's based on an ability the Heroes (Evan and Owen) gain later in the comic.- to sail sky high.

Evan can make Solids and Quasi-solids with his saliva and Owen turns into Gas and flies by default. Over the course of the comic, they better understand their powers & discover various methods to combine their powers .
Did a rough version in 3d for Evan's ability sheet, but who knows, might turn it into a concept art with a more impactful camera angle. Owen would move the bubble from inside while he's in gas form.

@LCT_m_a_d Thank you, I am feeling better actually. Just need a little more rest before I can get back on my feet.

@migxmeg The buried bellybutton treasure...? Also re: buns, I am... feeling very relieved that I wasn't the only one whose first thought was :eyes: Like c'mon, it's winter and I can STILL see your muscles through your clothes? Life just ain't fair.

Also this is vary cute and I might draw it or something1.

In the mean time, here is another player who is a very uh tall boi. Drawing him is a challenge because I've never drawn muscular and long. Only muscular OR long. ETA he is 6'6"/2m tall holy crow.

@LCT_m_a_d Thank you for sharing, I've noticed that when it comes to your works of art you use the fur on the animals that you draw to depict the the different angles, and how the shadow and light curves around the different angles of your subject. For example, I liked "The spirit of change..." as well as "Merry Christmas 2020 ft. Moose" you showed the different planes so well and now that you mention it, I understand how you use the texture to differentiate between planes.

Thank you, it really resonates when an expert at shading, like yourself, appreciates how I depict light and shadow in my work.

Going forward I'll see how I can apply texture to my work, my drawings are fairly cartoonish and disney-esk but I do enjoy adding texture to backgrounds and clothes!

Thanks! I'm eager to see how my future work looks in this style as well.

@euphisa I really like the way her shoes came out! Holy-moly detail.

@simplykit you are much more patient than I am.... that crosshatching looks really awesome.

Also I spent the whole day not working on the comic, and just drew more :stars:muscles :stars: I'm working on 3 simultaneously now.

I asked my husband why they had those silly little plates in the front of their pants and he looked at me all offended and was like "Have you ever been REALLY kicked in the thigh?! You can't move your leg after!" Ok ok sorry Mr. Former Jock.

Inked a little sketch of Hanako today. As of now I'm rewriting my comic, and she's getting a huge personality change. I have revoked her mary sue status and have turned her into an antagonist/antihero character with cutesy energy lol

got invited recently so i figure i'd make my first post some old out of context sketches of the oc duo i've been fixated on lately

eyes / scopophobia warning for this one

[pixel room from here]

i think these were like character or worldbuilding exploration and then like an incredibly random scene idea all combined and the result was whatever those are. in my head it's much different now it's just a matter of getting there
