Thank you!! I appreciate it very much :coffee_love:

And YESS Defiantly Lilo and Stitch is just :coffee_love:

Thats like one of the things I grew up on lol
And something I could never forger hah

A mise-en-scene study of Nani from Lilo and Stitch working as a waitress.

Its 00:17 here in the UK so I'll finish painting her tomorrow and that'll be my colour theory practice :')

Does anyone have a favourite Disney character?

@LCT_m_a_d Oooooh love the expression on that one!

@stiatent thank you so much - the wings that the models are using for this reference pack are so gorgeous! I kind of want some... don't know what I'd wear them for but they're cooooool.

@Black_Conscious Mulan. Yes <3. Lovely!

@DanielRKM those textures & lineweights are looking killer! Let's not get it wet.

@DanielRKM That is such a cool look and awesomely rendered! Gremlins inspired?

@AfroAtelier The fact that I don't have a favorite disney character is a indicator that something is wrong. I definitely like lilo and stitch characters and how you embody them stylistically.

@migxmeg thank you! It's so pleasing to see him playing the guitar

These inks are perfect, especially around the mouth and negative space in contrast with the hair!
For some reason, this winter hasn't done me like it has in the past.

& Sarah Lin - can't draw Oliver without drawing her too :3.

Edit: promise I won't do this more because it's actually a repost lmao, but just realized it's a huge art self-esteem boost to compare today's sketch with "last year on the same day" sketch now that I've got it all sorted. I can see what I was doing... and it's not the worst thing I've ever seen... but woooooof definitely learned something in a year. Ok back to panels in a better mood :).

Leaving the house seems like a huge chore? Yes. Doing pretty much anything besides gaming or drawing seems like a huge chore? Yes. Definitely :<.

Love your Sazed, you should absolutely tag Brandon!! The first book was so fun but I never felt compelled to read the next stuff in the series :grimacing:. Is it worth it?

@LCT_m_a_d thank you! It's fun to draw characters doing stuff they like

Ahhh I feel that :cry_02:
OMG the first book was so annoying to me :joy: I read it for the whole eternity, it was so slow and barely anything happened and Sanderson's writing was not really interesting and I only continued because hubby said it's worth it. And suddenly in the middle of book 2 BAM IT BECAME AWESOME and continued to be so xD so yeah, it's definitely worth it!

Oh damn, really?? I don't think I really like his character writing but the world building was a total yes for me. God the romance in that book made me want to slam my head on a desk too. I will read fiction for a fabulous magic system XD.

Absolutely xD the world building is amazing and characters (and well, everything really) becomes better. But the world is chef's kiss. Also his whole plot planning is purely fantastic.

It's back on the list for a cozy weekend on the couch then, thanks!

Thank you :>

Oh wow, cool! Thanks so much for the info. You use the white ink well--it's not overkill or underutilized with your style of color.

TOLD YOU, YOU'RE AMAZING

The grand return of the L O N G Rip.

Today I practiced my inking and colouring.

Here is the sketch from yesterday:

After the sketch comes the ink:

I use a size 1 paint brush to do the inking, it gives me good control when I want to make lines thicker or thinner.

After the inking the lines, I start on the hair!:

I always enjoy inking the hair, it's always a therapeutic process just watching the brush paint over the blank spaces.

After that I start on the undertones:

After the undertones, I finally move onto the colour:

The skin is a mixture of Burnt Sienna and Vermilion. The Burnt Sienna is the brown. However it isn't enough to just have brown. Since Nani has red undertones, the Vermilion is added to give her the slightly red tone in her skin.

@LCT_m_a_d they have so many characters, sometimes it can be hard to pick just one! And thank you, I personally like the absence of sharp lines in the lilo&stitch art work.

@Black_Conscious I look forward to seeing what Disney characters your draw next! That mulan is brilliant, you really captured the colours well. Did you use a reference like a still (a paused image) from one of the films? Did you know Nani has a post of Mulan in her bedroom in the first lilo and stitch movie

@migxmeg & @Kelheor OMG, Stormlight fans  I just finished Rhythm of War end of last year. Do you have any favourite characters?

@Calculus_Homework thank you, i'm still get use to placing highlights. When it comes to watercolours, it's also a good habit to forward plan and leave areas white as well as using white ink for highlights  bit that's a bit hard for me atm

@migxmeg yep theyr'e cool indeed mayb for nex Halloween or a cosplay I'm sure you'll come up with an idea  The girl with paper and cat look awesome too :cat2:
Love the one with the guy grooving on his guitar, the angle of his left hand also adds that natural, motion feel too :guitar:

@Kelheor is that an OC or Tifa (one of my fave characters) looks awesome either way  and sweet layout on the piercings for the bald guy, his expression looks awesome gives me a mix between a stern and wise character

@
@AfroAtelier nice seeing traditional painting art, never thought about it b4 but totally agree, very therapeutic seeing the paint brush painting over :paintbrush: XD Awesome linework and the undertones were neatly done  Nice seeing the process and paintjob, keep it up

Did this sketch while on lunchbreak - I'm clearly hooked on Issandro atm:

His powers are gravity/anti gravity manipulation and his fighting style inspired by Capoeira, there's some time b4 he appears in the comic but continue to work on him meantime, have to work on the bodypaint for his back, superpower effects.
His design is supposed to be layered especially with the bodypaint placement. -his body paint covers tattoos that reveal his true identity. Also have to do some battleworn textures too where the bodypaint starts to wash off.

His shirt and shirtless looks for comparison:

@Kelheor amazing...ly stubborn :triumph::grin: aww but thanks always for the support.

@nathanKmcwilliams see Erick, want to punch Erick :rage:

@stiatent thank you!! Wow these 3d models are just wicked - the clothes and texture :sparkles::sparkles::sparkles: I wouldn't even know where to start.

How long does it take you to create a 3d model, they look like a lot of hard work has gone into them!

Tell me about it, documenting each stage of the process is so rewarding. Especially if I want to come back in the future to examine how I did something. I still forget the combination of colours to make nani's skin colour, so I always have to refer to my cheat sheet or go back to my previous studies and figure it out :joy:

And great traditional work, I really like the anatomy and dynamic angles!

Must be that I'm so jealous of how amazing and cool he is.

@AfroAtelier Undertones!! I love seeing your process - thank you for posting. I'm never satisfied with my watercolors, going to grab that from you next time I try them <3. As for Stormlight, I haven't read that series (though I believe Mig is reading it now, so it's probably somewhere around the house). I used to read a lot of novels and for better or worse now it's 98% comics :sweat_02:.

I've reference one of the Covers from the Movie Mulan, such as this and then added small/noticeable details to it like the Blossoms, since her father used that as an example at the end of the story I believe.

Actually I was gonna draw the other version of Mulan where she is wearing the armor she took from her father. You know I might draw that as well I just wanted to get down with this one first :sweat_02:

And OMG HOW COULD I FORGET THAT EASTER EGG IN LILO AND STITCH!!!
I saw it one time like a long time ago lol, It actually took me a minute to see what you where talking about and then BAM :joy:

(reference photo)

@migxmeg OMG does migxmeg = Mig & Meg 🤯 I always thought it was just your artist moniker and not two names in one, mindblown.
And YES, i remember you mentioning that you do watercolour art as well! Would you be willing to share some of your watercolour sketches and paintings (or make new ones :smirk:) we'll be watercolour buddies :astonished:
What genre of comics are you into at the moment? mine's always chopping and changing but at this moment of time its supernatural horror

@Black_Conscious wait a sec... I've got ot here somewhere... rummages through screenshots... Chris Sanders, the designer and director of lilo and stitch actually worked as an animator for Mulan and Aladdin.

Here are some of his storyboards for Mulan when I was doing a deep dive into his artistic style:

I'm totally nerding out but I find these so fun to share because, they're kind of like a piece of animating history as well as a brilliant way to study art styles.
Go for it and draw her with the armour, that'll look amazing!

It's Tifa! Love her so much!
Will need to work on a bald guy a bit to polish some of his features :smug_01:
Issandro's design is amazing btw!

OMG I NEVER KNEW actually when I see those two movies side by side I actually can see the similar qualities thats so fascinating and its also intriguing to see the story boards as well

and lol yessss I've been wanting to draw her with the armor as well :coffee_love:

WOW!! That is a huge improvement indeed, all the studies are really paying off!
It makes me do more studies as well XD

A sketch of my dnd girl Form of Dread design. Playing as an undead warlock has more perks than I expected!
