Turns out we almost certainly have covid which explains why Mig has been quite sick and I'm sleeping way more than usual. Took the low energy opportunity to fuss with backgrounds after concluding that I needed to tone them way down most of the time so they don't compete with characters/dialogue/effects. I think it worked out... more or less - can always adjust back up for establishing frames. Sooo close to done with this part of things - I just need to automate both sides of the process so I'm not spending any extra time to get these images . Learning experience/time investment for sure.
I also found you can add a character/mass/whatever and make it cast a shadow, then turn it invisible but still see the shadow. Thrilled for not adding shadows to the environment manually since they never looked right. Between that and camera bookmarks I am ready to feel the UE5 magic.
