Now I know I said I was gonna do villian next, but for me, it's easier to make their heroic counterpart first to know how to compliment and contrast the characters.

And fun fact, the original story of Aladdin was set in China. Aladdin was Chinese and the sorcerer is from northern Africa, but there are still references to the middle east in the story too.

Omg he's purrrrrfect, that's one great take on Aladdin! :heart_02: really love the details!

Thanks. I really like the Mushroom Ninja especially as well. :mushroom:

I´m really happy right now because I finally have a really good idea for a comic book script.
I´m really convinced by the idea and I think it can work with comic book publishers

Started sketching the side kick who doesn´t have a name yet

What I meant is its unfinished especially the hair ik for sure its gonna give me a headache no matter what the next step is (linear or directly painting on top) its not a bad foundation its just not enough, needs another sketch to figure stuff out

I think owing to an especially stressful week at work with some long hours, I’ve just been very dissatisfied with everything I’ve drawn this week. Every sketch I’ve done Ive done at least 3-5 times. Sometimes more, and still wasn’t happy with the results. 🫠
(Not like a “oh I suck this is bad” type of thing, just a “bleh this isn’t what I want it to look like” grumpy artist type of thing 🤣 I’m pretty self aware, it’s just a bad mood and stress impacting my work).

But here are a few pieces that managed survive getting nuked by my mood :skull: I tried to push through by forcing myself to move on to inking. I don’t think it helped. I’ll have to find another tactic

Anybody else been in one of these loops? (Where you keep redrawing things or just feel dissatisfied with everything?) What do you do?

@jessijokes I know exactly how you feel. January is busy for me work-wise, and I try to draw in the evenings, but I’m tired so make lots of mistakes. :see_no_evil:

@jessijokes sometimes you can't fight it  IMO I would recommend to save all the attempts anyway, maybe in a month you will look at them with fresh eyes and see they were not bad at all xD but generally I think it's okay to just leave it as sketch and rest. Maybe try to experiment with colors instead of lining, this just might help putting yourself in a completely different mood.

Okay so we finished thumbnailing Hex s2 to the end (at 3 a.m. lol) and I am in a very strange head space now xD this helped to see the volume of work left for the season, but I am also somewhat overwhelmed now.
Random Summer sketch

@IndigoShirtProd oh, he's glorious! :hohoho: I totally love the scepter, especially the carvings on it

@Lensing good luck with the publishers!! You style is so old school

@Legendofgenii omg I just saw the doughnuts and they are SO CUTE??? the frog one! :heart_03:

I love looking over a stretch of rough panels as they start to fill out (a little bummed I have to do backgrounds now, but hey, pumped to be making progress). Freshly feeling the emotion work between the characters is one of the true joys of comic work.

Speaking of progress, @IndigoShirtProd - I don’t think I properly thanked you and your colleagues for making those score cards for the March Madness competition 2 years back. I think about your notes every time I plan panels out and it’s helped with my journey a good deal. Thank you for that experience, it was truly a gift.

Oh thank you . Yea, making the scorecards was one of best parts of the contest. That and reading everyone's comics. I wonder if we should do another contest?

I don't know if I'll sketch anything except pages today, but update on yesterday's Summer. Not exactly sure what I am trying to achieve here, but let's try. Sorry if it burns your retina

Apparently, today is the day I just can't draw feet or hands :pumpkin: oh well, sketching instead of lineart it is

Honestly, I wouldn't mind making it yearly thing. And it wasn't as much work as you'd think; coordinating everyone was the harder part because we all lived in different time zones.

@LCT_m_a_d oh how would I love to make a few of those! 🤭 Summer would get all the colors hahaha

Ah that’s great advice. I’m a rage eraser/deleter. :skull:🤣 I’ll probably regret it later so I should kick that habit.

I love color so I should definitely do that. Last night I spent a few hours working on a huge piece I’m working on (huge in that there are like 13 characters in it, and huge in that there it’s poster sized) for a local improv theater that’s a very different type of style (more comical) and it’s in the coloring stage. It’s got a more fun energy because I was focused more on making it ridiculous and funny rather than trying to make it pretty and perfect. So it was a good way to de-stress.

And speaking of which I’m sure I say it over and over. Your sketches have such great energy. they are very loose and the characters feel really natural and alive. I’m always very impressed. Love seeing them.

@jessijokes whoa, making a theatre poster sounds amazing! Kinda intimidating too (especially with 13 characters!) but still amazing xD are you painting it traditionally or is it digital?

It's hard to advise someone, since we all love different stuff, but yeah, change of routine is usually great to shake some nasty block off  Didn't help me today with hands and feet though. Zero, nada. I drew a few panels of characters without those and it looks absolutely ridiculous. Tomorrow will be a better day lol.
And thanks, this really warms my heart :relieved:

I feel you there. But it looks like a great start so far! :+1:
