The tapas 'new look' poll

Desktop or phone, I find that scrolling is easier for both. But that's the only thing I feel works for both. I don't use a 'phone for the internet, I only have one to receive calls.

Am I the only one dealing with severe annoyance when I click a comic that I've bookmarked. It's updated. BAM. Instead of being taken to the newest release, I'm on the one I just read? Like. That's so annoying and makes me think it wasn't updated at all and the site broke >: And it is updated but I have to manually GO to the update.

This will skew "views" going forward.

A work will now get 2 views when just going to check on an update. A single person will give 2, instead of 1.

10 of these could be from what I mean. That means, they're just virtually inflating the numbers to make it look like your traffic is higher than it really is.

What initially made me move to Tapas was the ability to see multiple comics/novels in a row and then to click to open their summaries. Now with this new look it's lost the quantity to allow for newer creators. In the old format I could keep scrolling till I saw a really cool title page then click. This is going to be a hard shift and many won't like it. A website that feels similar is Wattpad and those are hellholes where new artists fail to get discovered because of the algorithm.

Okay after trying to read comics with this new design. I hate is so damn much. Aside from the eye searing white, the lack of nifty banners on the top being gone, I despise clicking on a comic and instead of being directed to the first page I have to scroll though the archive. The information of the comic beside is gone in place of an empty void. I dont read on my phone, I read on my laptop, That's why I don't browse webtoons that often and stop reading smack jeeve after them bursting a vessel. It's just bleeg, atleast deviant art had an option to use to old format. I dont like the browsing on here at all.

Comic fury is pretty good allows you to create sort of like your own website that's full customization, however there is way too few users who read there. The most popular comics only crack into the hundreds with only one in the thousand subs, the majority seem to at best have only have subs in the double digits at most 30. So if you want eyes you are pretty much stuck with mobile conforming endless scroller websites.

Every thing is Mobile and laptops and desktop dont exist or are owned by the elderly who dont know anything. The future is mobile! at least thats what Im getting from all these companies.

i really really hate the mobile app, i deleted it off my phone cause honestly... when im out and about, i have no time to start fucking around on my phone, i feel better reading comics on my bigass computer monitor but I and a lot of others on the site have the theory that Tapas overhauled into this glitchy webtoon clone that can barely run properly to Purposely drive people away from the desktop site... and i believe it... but sadly, from what i heard, the mobile app is actually worse off than the site right now

Honestly I have super mixed feelings. I know they're rolling in changes to display premium and free alongside each other which will look neat but until that gets implemented I don't think I'll like it that much it looks like a Webtoon clone and I kinda miss the scrolling format that was so good for desktop... like can we have that back at least

Yes, all the banners, ad banners are removed and the fresh section is not appearing in the main page anymore I hope Tapas team will bring that back again.

So, it turns out that the flagged comics actually did have updates, but you now must click on the next button at the bottom to see said updates. Now we're up to 5 clicks where one used to do...

Now when i get notified about a new episode, when i click, instead of going directly to that episode, it goes to the episode list, which to be honest, is kind of inneficient. Also, going to the next page is way less intuitive and harder.......

Guess i`m a normie who joined the "no" club (i voted maybe earlier).

But i trust the staff will listen to the creator`s opinion. (and the numbers of this poll)

i have a novel that's 330k words and is formatted like house of leaves, with tons of weirdly placed text that moves about the page

i'm not fixing it

it took me like 2 weeks to reformat the frigging thing just to upload it to Tapas and that was only a month ago, one month later and it's all gone to hell lol

if someone actually gives a shit they can message me and I'll give them the PDF download, at least that one has the image files that I couldn't upload here /shrug

They have already made changes and are working on other fixes. While I don't like this new look either, I feel like we should calm down a bit and let them work on the changes. It has to be really stressful for the staff too and it doesn't help if we're just constantly yelling at them. Surely we should point out issues if we see them but I don't think there's need to keep talking about the same things other people have already mentioned so many times

New looks come and go and people usually calm down pretty quickly after the change so I don't really care that much one way or another about the aesthetic update.

But the new comic navigation system is objectively worse than the old one. What happened to the everscroll? And why does it think you're one comic behind where you really are?

Proposal to the Tapas team to add a dark mode.

Sorry, I already have dark mode on for Reddit, Twitter and Youtube. I don't wanna be reading comics at the middle of the night and get blinded by the overwhelming amounts of unsaturated white. Even Webtoons (which the new interface is eerily similar to) doesn't have this much white, they balance it with the green... kind of. Or maybe I just got used to it.

Okay, now that I've tried to read comics on the website (a long tapas comic to really get a feel for it btw), I have some thoughts:

• i kind of liked the one in the old interface where you just scroll down to the next episode. Now you gotta click a button.

• In your subscribed list, when you click on a comic with new updates, it takes you to the episodes list instead of the new episode?

• Maybe it's just me, but there seems to be a lot of empty space now? In the old interface pretty much most of the screen was used. Maybe I just like crowded interfaces, if my CSP interface is anything to go by.

• WHAT HAPPENED TO THE BANNERS?
