Woohooo. Thank you @MochoStudios
I changed my vote from "maybe" to "no" because I just found out that my banner has been replaced by some kind of near-puce brownish poop color. And the option to upload a banner is still there, but if it's only for link-sharing purposes that's very disappointing.
I came across this blog post on Twitter, seems like they also think adding extra clicks to get to comics seems like a bad move but almost everything else is... kinda okay?

Waiting for the fixed version of site..
It's definitely a no for me
If it still remain without :
Banners, ad banners, difficult navigation for readers and creators both, hard to find support buttons and inconveniently bright for eyes.
I really like the Tapas team to fix these issues Asap
I don't want Tapas to be like Smack Jeeves or something
went to the mature tab just cause'
the banners (?) or images looked pretty stretched and condensed.. it looks pretty unfinished and the titles are unreadable bc of it.
dunno if it was always that way since i only know of the separate mature tab just now rip
its the same on the comics section and it really hurts to read. there are series where you can see the title but some do not have it, only the genres and likes...it kinda looked like someone just an archived webpage than an actual and readable page
Seeing how the team is listing and changing things. I have now re-changed my vote to a YES.
I start to like the new thing. And the more I feel the Tapas team is fixing the more I live it.
We are not the ones in charge to say what is best. But Tapas is listening and tries to make us feel home again.
Thank you @michaelson
Being forced to stare at this aggressively WHITE background every time I have to check on something in my dashboard is getting really old. I'm starting to feel like I'm going to go out and get a third party plug in to do Tapas's job FOR them. I'm seriously considering not updating my comics here anymore because the experience for creators really is that awful and I don't even have all that much to manage.
I mean I gave them credit for getting the GL section up - it took WAY longer than it reasonably should have but they got it done. If we have to wait years to get a dark mode I'm not going to be happy. I cant help but think there must have been a better way to Beta Test their garbage revamp than pushing it out to live servers without warning.
Why they would inflict this mess upon us the way they did really does make you wonder who's left in charge and why nobody has saved us from them yet.
Its just... To whomsoever is in charge of this deplorable train-wreck - this isn't working. Restore the old, less eye bleeding, frontend until the new one is actually is a usable state and THEN push it to live.
You cant seriously tell me you still haven't gotten enough data by now... I'm begging you, this isn't funny.
Its just cruel.
Yeah, among the things that appeared to have influenced by WebToon, this is another big annoyance of mine. I clearly took the yellow/gray's, and the difference they made, for granted. It gets a bit tiring to look through the comic sections and user profile after a few minutes. And when I use the Dashboard, I feel like I'm taking an eye exam!
And there was no reason to removal most of the color, as it's not like the website's colors went from grey & yellow to white & yellow, as you can see the grey bars when reading comics, and on their mascot. With the yellow, you can the bottom bar still (seemingly left untouched) on the home page, and they use it with the selector for sorting options.
Sigh...I know it seemed like small amounts of color, but to me at least (and clearly quite a few more people), it seemed to make a huge difference. Seemingly another change just to match the competition. I'd like to be wrong, and have it be part of a better plan (dark mode, switchable colors) but...I'm keeping my expectations subdued.
Also, for your point on bringing the old design back...I don't think it's happening. It's been asked by many, including me, but the response I got from Michael was something along the lines of "We currently cannot comment on that". So given how the redesign was rolled out without warning or feedback (and seemingly no bug testing either), the inability to provide an answer, and them seemingly pouring through the CVS receipt worth of complaints...I think they're just going to push on with this.
I'd personally speculate that something is forcing their hand behind the scene to push this update out (perhaps to copy and beat the competition). But even if that weren't the case...don't get your hopes up about a rollback. Not even about a option to switch between the designs (like Reddit). At this point, I just don't see it happening.
I noticed yesterday that Tapas has adjusted their "read updates!" from taking you to the last episode you just read to the episode list. However, if someone clicked to organize their episodes from "oldest to newest" you will see #1 first and click that and then... Well, wonder where the ef you are if you didn't notice the date before clicking.
As a RETURNING person to read the comic I'm already enjoying, i don't want to see the episode list. take me to the UPDATE.
I never really expected they would roll it back I just wanted to vent because whoever made this call must be in too high a position to be fired because its the only explanation for why they haven't been yet. This reeks of a bureaucrat inventing a problem and rushing out a solution without understanding word one of what they're talking about.
I'm sure there is some premium incompetence going on here at the highest levels, I just hate having to wait to find out who the blame actually lies with. The longer it takes for someone to come forward and tell us what really happened the more likely it is the guilty party is going to get off scott free. It just bothers me when someone in a position of power does something irredeemably stupid with no consequences all because they felt the need to do 'something' and this being 'something' meant they were going with this regardless of how obviously folly the whole venture was.
If we could direct our complaints to the man responsible that would be great. Problem is that would require a level of transparency and we cant have that can we? Then things like this might NOT happen.
I found dark mode, but only for Vivaldi users, in my opinion.
On the bottom right corner of your screen, the Page Actions button (<>) allows you to invert the colors on the Tapas page.
It may not be the BEST solution, but it is good just in case you want to wait for the dev team to include a dark mode.
