The tapas 'new look' poll

Endless scroll is made solely for mobile(unless it's like Tumblr where your dashboard has large posts and you can still see blogs by page), which doesn't explain AT ALL why push it into Desktop other than laziness and conforming to trends. Notebooks and desktops haven't disappeared entirely yet, I have no idea why they couldn't just replace the front page organization with the new one and keep it as is. Hhhhhhhh

What about Endless scroll, when it will load new page only after scrolling at end and scrolling more over end of page? This one thing is cca OK in webtoon app, and it would be OK on desktop too (yes, it's applicable). But how it was, it was not best before, it was buggy, and it was heavy on resources, but now, now it's less buggy (page is not jumping) for example, but that controll from user is like, I need to do 3 milion clicks, scroll 2 kilometers on mouse wheel, and then, we will show you what you want to see.

Before around 30 mins ago I didn't even know there was a forum. Suddenly everything chanced when I opened a new page and I found the forum while trying to find the newsfeed to see if it would tell me what happened.

Just woke up to this, and I'm like "NO"

I liked whenever I clicked on a webcomic- you would be instantly transported to the latest page- not drab boring boxes like Webtoon's setup. My banner at the top that I spent HOURS trying to make is now GONE- replaced by one of my avator icons for a particular chapter...the whole new setup is so DRAB and BORING AF.

WHY do you HATE us Tapas?!?

Open Library > Right Click > Open in New tab, wash, rinse, repeat. Welcome to Webtapastoons. Horse whip the designers, tar and feather them and ride them out on a rail to a waiting ship where they're keel hauled and their tattered remains are drawn and quartered before being fed to the dogs...

I'm honestly surprised how many don't like the new layout because I absolutely LOVE IT.

It's clean, I'm not forced into a random episode when I click on a comic/book, but can choose from the list... What's not to love?

Also never been to Webtoons, so no idea how these two designs look compared to each other. I just know I prefer this clean look to the clunky old one any day. 🏻

What I like about it: They have a lot of comics/novels at the top on the front page so that more people have a chance in the sun. I also like that they moved the staff-picks to the top of the front page rather than the bottom; gives unknowns a better chance to shine. I previously couldn't even see the collection Rags to Riches on desktop which was kind of a big deal since my story is apart of it. XD I'm glad I can see it now.

What I don't like about it: It seems like the staff-picks for novels have either been removed entirely or combined with comic staff-picks which sucks. I doubt a novel will make it on there very often if they decided to combine the two sections and it will make it that much harder for talented writers to get noticed. I'm not particularly fond of how they got rid of banners, either, and the front page layout is a little bit messy.

There's some good ideas there, they just need to be cleaned up, I think.

Normally I really like when sites make updates but it kinda feels like all the personality got sucked out? And all the features that separated it from webtoons seem to have gone with it?

I like that they made the overall look cleaner on the front page but I'm kinda sad they took the banner feature away for all comics, it kinda felt like the only other extra way to advertise your comic.

I am not okay with this. It was confusing to figure out and the banner is gone. I'm scared that new creators are going to suffer for this and its just not as attracting as it was before. It's like it was murdered and replaced by an imposter.

No one who continuously read any volume of series on a large screen on the previous site could possible love this train wreck...

And to add insult to injury, they're now flagging previously read comics as unread...

There seems to be a worrying growing trend of assuming everyone only uses mobile phones to access the internet and no other device. Forcing mobile-only designs onto all platforms makes my desktop and laptop look like they've discovered a crude website from the mid-90s. It also makes no sense for creators as I don't know anyone who can write, draw, scan, colour, edit etc a comic on a tiny phone screen.

I really don't like it. I don't read Webtoons on my desktop because I really don't like THEIR layout. I read Webtoons on my phone.

With Tapas, I was able to read it comfortably both on my phone and my desktop. This made it so much easier for me to peruse on slow times. Also I have a novel, so instead of all text on my desktop, there was still color on the episode list, the banner, etc.

Now it's all text.

So...I'm back to not reading tapas on my browser except for uploading my stories.

I find the lack of portability between platforms...disturbing. Especially since Tapas was fine on both platforms before. Could there have been updates? Sure! I would've loved to see novels, especially new novelists bumped a little bit. Easier to find and see.

Now they are even HARDER to find.

...So...yeah this is not pleasant. I don't wanna go back to Wattpad. PLEASE NO!

Worse - there are artists that do Procreate and whatnot, but they do it with a big tablet. This super crammed mobile format also hurts them because, while the scroll format is easier on them, the giant bars of white on eyes that are already tired don't help a whole lot. It's pandering to shareholders and higher ups that see shiny new update and none of the feedback (or actually use the site).

I don't mind it, but I also don't understand why they have to force mobile formatting on desktop users. I don't understand what the issue is with removing the banner. It was a mess to get it to display properly on the various resolutions anyway. I'm guessing this is step 1 of a major overhaul of the UI (especially considering the upcoming "covers" feature).

hmmm.....this one is tricky to answer for me....at first i was uncomfortable with the color change.....maybe due to habit?, but getting used to it and finding stuff was pretty fast.

Personally i love that now in the home page you can see more than one recommendation without it looking messy.

Gotta say i miss the distinctive look of Tapas

Well, it does seem at first sight that the new layout is not really an improvement (I don't like it either, I loved the ancient design and now it's just confusing and very similar to webtoon), but it's not like tapas is known for listening to the complaints of its users. What do you guys suggest we do? Contact them? Get as many users as possible to answer the poll?
