I finally made a discord account, yay!! :cry_01:
Are there any Tapas discord servers? I'm Chitabs#8448 in the site :blep:

Yay, thank you so much!! And of course I don't mind :cry_01:

ah, i was wondering why new people started joining the server

Ah I was wondering where the sudden influx in people on the tapas discord came from

I mean... wow. I want to write something there, but not sure what ._.

My employment is being terminated in 3 months. was closing in on my 10 years with the company. I guess the day 0 of dealing with this reality, I can put things in much better perspective.

In some ways I'm grateful for this happening now since I've hit rock-bottom MUCH worse before so this is nothing I know I can't overcome.

Damn, remember when that happened to me, not after ten years, but still. Mine was two weeks notice though. Didn't really hit me until after a several of weeks have passed. Still, one of the best things that have happened to me in the long run. Looking back, I shudder to imagine where would I be right now if I stayed

yeah, we were a small company recently acquired by a larger company so they are shrinking all of their subsidiaries to 25% to ensure they can survive.

@Darkstrong
That's terrible, but I'm glad that you landed on your feet!
Having 3 months is a blessing compared to getting a 2 weeks notice. It was a shock since it happened so quickly and I was one of the company's modern architects. But I've always grown up expected the worst and hoping for the best, so at least I've been a bit prepared.

Also after updating my resume (which I haven't done in years), I feel a little bit better about my self-worth which is something I've been trying to improve anyway.

The worst thing was, about a week before that happened, our boss had a meeting where he said that despite the crisis, the company is doing very well, and we can be sure that noone will by cut. The next week, he called us in and tells me that they are cutting about 20% of employees, and cut about 40% of salary of the ones that are left. How about that?!
Oh and the cherry on top is - it was my birthday

I sure hope this just means you are needed in the better place in this world :punch: Best of luck to you!

Oh, also yeah, updating your resume is always a pick-me-up  Seeing you expertise (and thus worth) grow is always a nice thing.

 Bad timing is always the worst.
Monday was the first notice we were told that our company would be downsizing and we they would notify us if we are being terminated. Yesterday I was invited to a quick web-conference and they told us that were all going to be let go.
I just had a conversation with family this weekend and they were saying "this corona virus could've effected our careers, but we should be thankful that it's giving us a break".

Yeah, on one hand the "break" was good, one the other - noone has a good job security these days. Thankfully it all seems to be winding down, so by the time you will actually need a new job, the market will recover just enough for it. 🤞

So there was a willager who had a horse. It was a gorgeous horse and some people even were envious of him. But one day yhe horse went lost in the woods and people stopped being envious of him. But later the horese came back and brought a beautyful mate horse along. People started to be envious again. But later villager's son tried to ride the new horse and fell off and broke his leg. People stopped being envious of the villager. But then the war started and all young have been taken to the army, except for the villagers son... People envied him once again. Only the vilager was neither glad nor sa... because there was no use of it... because we don't know what's good and what's bad until we live at least till tomorrow.

Well, 3 months are usually enough to get another job or find another financial help. I wish you luck
with it and less worry ✿ڿڰۣ—
