@DarJodo everything. Actually mostly it's the way it sounds, and the lyrical content.

There is a pop side to it of course, but country music has a long history and many subgenres. You do not hate all of that, do you ?

@DarJodo I can appreciate the bluegrass side of country, (I do love me some banjo on occasions) especially the roots it has in the creation of other genres. I suppose it would be better to say that I hate pop country.
I also can't disavow the skill many country guitarists have either. I won't diss their hard work at honing the craft. But...overall...country music is just something that I cannot get into.

Sometimes it helps to have a dad who was into country music. Sometimes this one just gets what a song was making him feel.

I lose it when they use the wrong music at the wrong time.
I hate epic battles sound-tracked to corny current songs.
-80 points when the song is actually playing In-Universe.

300 ends after the epic speech- and my mind was swept up in the moment and then the jarring credits roll to clashing music. ARghhhhhhhh

All I can think of is that Sonic X clip I saw going around where Tails is literally beating on Sonic for not be able to save someone (or that's how it is in the Japanese translation, at least.)

I'm the same way. I hate country music, even though I live in the country. Pop country music makes me irritable, especially when it sounds the same as every other song. But you couldn't pay me to sell my banjo. Bluegrass is completely different to me. And the banjo, to my ears at least, is one of the happiest sounding instruments in the world.

Oooh. Yeah I hate that too. Shoehorning in a popular song is a lazy way to force a viewer into connecting with characters. It's even more annoying when the song lyrics have nothing to do with the movie at all.
The early 2000s film industry was especially guilty of that particular ploy.

Banjo is legit. And you play? Awesome! With Bluegrass I really dig all the cross-picking techniques the guitarists use, it's so technical and difficult but they play so fast.

I play a little, but everyone in the hick side of my family plays a guitar, banjo, or mandolin. I really love clawhammer. Lot of my family hails from West Virginia with a touch of Louisiana in there My grandfather, the most stereotypical West Virginia specimen you could ever imagine, was supposed to teach me but died before he could. I've held onto the banjo for years until I can get proper tutoring. Though it's a little hard to with everything going on right now

I cringe at characters where all they do is talk about how they want to get stronger to protect their love interest/friends/family and how do they do it? Don't worry, author got them covered and they get a powerup after a powerup. Either instantly without no reason "because that power was inside them all along", or they go through some ridiculous training and EVERY OTHER CHARACTER points out how awesome that character is for nailing it in three days, where normal person would take like a year.

Or the clumsy big breasted anime girl, which is there only to be a damsel in distress and go "kyaaaa".

Or when author is trying too hard to moralize their audience.

I second that......a story can have a message, but when it focusses too much in preaching it and hurts the writing.....i cringe.

Seeing the camera focus on the girls' panties while blood is gushing everywhere makes me question whether the directing is aiming for the viewers to be appalled or turned on...or both?

It's supposed to be ridiculous. lol That's why it's so over the top and stupid. Because it's supposed to be.

Yeah I'm honestly... pretty sick of this trope. Like when a character's motivation for everything is "I want to protect so-and-so!!" and that's it like... meh.

Which reminds me of other cringe things. Like when it's super obvious an author has no idea how to write female characters. I haven't read the comic, but I have been watching the anime for Tower of God and most of the female characters are soooooo cringey. The "I'm so beautiful other characters must be captivated by my beauty" kind of thinking can just go die in a fire.

Or minutes into the first episode "Oh, MC is kind of handsome" criiiiiiiiiiiiiinge.

Sound effects that are just actions pull me out of a story immediately. I know it can work in other languages, but in English it just makes me cringe. I'm talking "sound effects" like the word BLUSH! on a panel where a character is blushing. Or OPEN! when a door opens. Doesn't do it for me at all, haha.
