Sorry that it's cut, I only had one screenshot that actually included it. But you can clearly tell which one is better, right??

For one thing, the new lettering is too dark. If I tilt my laptop screen back 10 degrees it just disappears. That issue should have been obvious. ಠ_ಠ

For another thing, I have no idea what's going on with that icon. It doesn't even look like an icon, it's just the title printed a second time but smaller and blurrier. And with what looks like even more tiny words underneath, only those are too blurry to even distinguish.
I kinda thought the whole purpose of an icon was to be a simple, eyecatching, immediately-recognizable symbol of the product, but I guess that's just me. =/

...On a slightly unrelated note (that isn't really a criticism) was I the only one who saw something different when they first changed to the dog icon...?

My brain imagined the scythe to go with the little reaper-guy. ^^ I didn't actually realize it was Tapa-dog until I came to the forum and people said so...

you are right about that.......A slogan no matter how good is less eye-catching than an image, specially in tighter spaces like an app icon.

They seemed to not finish setting up the UI on the forums. They only replaced the one on the site header and seemed to not update the one on the tread header.

It's a little bland IMO, honestly, if they wanted something more basic, they could have just did a cursive t. But I don't really understand what was wrong with the old one, but maybe they are rebranding IDK.

This new icon is honestly a prime example of bad graphic design. Such a basic mistake on a professional website... It contains small, unreadable text and is worst of all generic (unlike the previous instantly recognizable icon), if this is how tapas is doing rebranding then i'm very pessimistic about this site's future, yet again.

Gotta second this. As someone who graduated from advertising i can tell that being generic is the bane of branding. Specially when they have appealing and recognizable mascots they could use for icons.

Weird they didn't use the dog. Also weird they used webtoon green for some of the sections in the landing page. Actually, Webtoon just uses text for their icon too
