Thoughts about Cara?

I could not find anything on the forum about Cara.
My Instagram wall been flooded with others posts about trying out or even switching to Cara from Instagram.
So, I decided to try it out too, to maybe get some more views, readers...anything instead of void.
It is still a beta version so it has some errors. Yesterday I was a bit mad after failing to post for minutes, but it seems doing better on PC.
Anyway, I just wanted to ask if you have a Cara account. If yes, what are your experiences?

I don't have a Cara account, and likely will not have one for the foreseeable future. Call me spoiled, but I prefer to be on a fully functional platform, not one still in Beta.

The massive influx of users has already caused it to crash before, simply because the team is too small and too unprepared to deal with this huge amount of people. Word is the small dev team is having to pay out of pocket to increase their server size, calling for donations to achieve it.

I dunno, I have a feeling this platform will buckle under the weight and collapse, causing many people to abandon it for the next shiny thing that will come along.

On top of that, though the main appeal for many people seems to be the anti-AI stance and the built in glaze tool, I've also read that their stance is a lot more wishy-washy than many its champions are claiming.

There's always a new platform when there's something doing down on the big social medias. Pillowfort, Artfol, Bluesky, and now Cara... It's tiring to always be migrating to new places and not know if anyone's going to be using it a couple of months from now. I probably won't create a Cara account, maybe that will change when they go out of beta if people that have tried it think it's good but for now I simply don't feel like it's worth my energy.

i think this tweet just about sums up my emotions on the matter

i want to avoid having my content scrapped as much as the next person but the cycle is getting exhausting. I would like to find a space to form and build communities with like minded creators similar to the old deviantart days but even then social media hasnt felt as social as it used to in a long time

at the end of the day i'll still keep creating and making art as always but i cant keep up with the umpteenth mass migration after yet another company makes some horrible business decision

Now I don't have an account on Cara, I know there is a lot of concern about it and I have seen people I follow on Instagram who have created their accounts there. I contacted Cara, the person I chatted with was quite respectful and clarified many doubts I had about the platform.

But for now I'm going to wait at least a couple more months to see what happens and I'll continue on Instagram.

I personally don't know anything about Cara, just the typical situation of people panicking about a social media and going somewhere else.
I thought people went to Bluesky for the same reason when Elon Musk bought Twitter.

Honestly, I don't think the Meta AI is going to be implemented properly, as Instagram and facebook are also very well filled with memes and reposts with tacky watermarks. Besides the downgrade in posting quality especially when you see Instagram posts from PC. There is Glaze and Nightshade too, so I believe if someone is really that threatened, popular or worried, they could do poison their works before posting them so its useless for AI scrapping.

I don't think my art is that great to be fed to AI, so I won't change socials just yet. I think I have enough in my plate with FB, Insta, X, Tumblr, TikTok, Youtube, Ko-Fi and some Discord Servers. I do have a Reddit and Bluesky, but they have the least activity on my part.

I've actually had Cara for a few months, although I mostly got an account to use their built-in Glaze feature (my PC runs Glaze and Nightshade very, very slowly). The auto-glaze feature is really nice - you can either set your work to auto-post when it's done, or you can download your glazed work and post it elsewhere.

I've liked it so far - though the community is definitely quite small still, and the influx of people has made posting and using Glaze quite difficult at this moment. It wasn't like that before, and I'm sure they will get it sorted soon.

I'm on it looking for more webcomic folks! I don't know if it'll take off with non-artists, which is what people need to make a living off of. Im honestly of the belief that it's probably healthy for us as artists to not get too dependent on any one website, since they'll all go or decay away eventually.

Within minutes of making an account and posting a few images I realized that it was Artstation 2. ie- Portfolio site for pros and wannabe pros.

It's not for me but I gave them some cash simply because there need to be more options than a two soulless advertising companies tricking desperate creatives into providing free content they can attach ads to

I tried CARA for a few months but realized that it only allows G rated content. So found it useless.
My artwork ranges from G to R18 due to the genres I work with. Horror, Action, Fantasy, etc.

Just got onto Blue Sky, I get ALOT more interactions than I have with Twitter for years. So will be closing my twitter.
Pillowfort does well for my 14+ content.

Instagram has been mostly d3@d for years since I got it. So keeping it up for the fast paced mind, quick studio look, for my studio site. I keep a FB page for my studio for networking. Ive met alot of collabs there.

I have owned my own domain for over 20 years, but to outreach like fingers I use social media for more SEO, tracking, etc. On top what I already have.
