Hello, I'm an art school graduate. I'm currently developing a webcomic and I already made 20 pages. My question is where can I go from here in terms of marketing my webcomic and the recommended buffer for my webcomic? I also have a release date in mind while building a larger buffer.

I'll show you my work in progress character art in my story.

For marketing, you can do many things, but it comes down to what works for you.

You like tweeting things about your comic? Get on twitter and start sending out tweets. If you like talking about how you make your comic, make a YouTube channel. Like to colab? Find people on forums (like this one!) and see if anyone would like to make something with you.
Depends on how active you want to be marketing yourself. All that matters is that you are putting your name and the comic's name out there.

But you can also just let your comic grow organically. If you make good content, people will start following you and sharing it among themselves. If you find yourself on the creator spotlight or even just on the fresh page of TAPAS or Webtoons, you will get people just checking your work out just cause you on those sections.

As for a buffer, it depends on how quickly you can work I guess. I know of people who have no buffer and just smash out the comic when they need to, but they have a very simple style. Others would do what you are doing and have a large buffer just in case.

There is no right or wrong way to anything in regards to anything you do with your comic. Just do whatever makes sense to you or is the easiest. And don't be afraid to change, since we all change all the time.

Any question?

Ok.

Well I have been here in Tapas for nearly 6 months so uhhhh..... am I still considered new?

Well hello @toonben and welcome
I’ll tell you how I did.
It all started on a Discord server. Then I tried to take is on tweeter facebook and redit.
I learnd that my content applies to an audience of other creators. I had a hard time to gain interest from normal casual readers. So I went on Tapas the home of creators.

Later I went on Webtoons and jumped off quickly again. Webtoon might have the numbers of readers but there are no interactions with them. Not as there are here at Tapas. And that is Important for me.

As for the buffer? I have a simple style so I just wing it.

If you need to ask about it, then I guess you feel that you are one if the new.

So yes. You are.

It is also important to know that not everyone will have the same experiences with the same platforms.

For me this was the opposite. I have had very minimum interaction with my followers on Tapas, not to mention having far less compared to Webtoons. This comes down to a lot of things, like how long your episodes are, their genre, the mood people are in when viewing your work. Plus a lot of things you cannot control.
For me, Webtoons works so much better for my comic. For @jensrichard77, Tapas works the best. For you @toonben, you might not have success on either platform. Or you might have great success on both. Always try your hand at a platform you want to be a part of and don't worry about the success of others with them. Take note of them (you don't want to be joining a forum that is toxic), but make your own mind up with the interactions you have with said platform. You never know, the platform others have had no success in might be the one that makes you well known

This is so true. Thinking about it I have also the upset experience.
I have another comic here at tapas that @Starlexic is the artist on. One that gives me way more subscribers but no interaction.
Guess it might be the genre.
It is a cheesy BL comic and it aims for the readers only. I have not that many creators reading but way more casual readers.

Hello.
How was your week?
Odd question I know, but It's the only one I can think of. :stuck_out_tongue:
Have a good day.
