Too many comic ideas

Ugh on the TV at work, dirty jobs was playing. No joke, one episode gave me a scene idea and now a got a whoe new grafic novel idea in my head grrr!

Does this ever happen to you where you accidently created a new story begining to end? Cuz this happens like at least once a month for me

Yeah, it happens a lot, and it's really hard to resist. I have digital folders full of notes, character designs, setting lore etc. for so many different comics, more than I could ever create.

I'd say, make all the notes, and then keep them around. You can always combine the best bits and characters from a bunch of different ones into one really cool idea later, or integrate them into your current comic. The main thing is to try not to get distracted and start doing too many comics at once!

I have a million comics that are, like, 3 issues long. They start with a huge, singular inspiration, but then fizzle out.
I've realized it takes more than one big idea to make a good ...thing. I use the marination method. Does it STILL sound great, wonderful, cleaver and awesome six months later? A year later?

I think that's how weak stories are born.
One central cool thing and everything else is bog standard and cliche.
Like the creator was happy to stay focused on THAT ONE COOL THING and everything else is 'supportive material'.

This is exactly what I do. I very much recommend keeping records of all of your ideas. You'll be surprised later how much it helps frame, settle and edit future work. I've fixed some stories' plot holes by filling in from other stories. Some works fuse into one (or at least, share the same universe), other characters/plots/elements may migrate to another.

yeah I do get story ideas all the time too. I say, follow your idea and write it out. and save it as suggested by others.

I've also used story ideas I'd shelved previously to fill in ideas now. It's nice have an inventory of story ideas.

Also, it's good practice to be creative. Go with it.

Yes, for me it's not just tv scenes or such. It's EVERYTHING! art, nature, covers for other works and yes scenes too. When I see something my curiosity gets the best of me and my mind wanders, and it usually fills in the blanks of mystery with a story. Though most of the time the story is not interesting but sometimes it is and its enough for my to write it on the nearest scrap of paper for me to keep for years. Its really annoying if its a really good story cause then it will stick in my mind obsessing over it, un till I manage to write it down. Then I feel my minds at ease as subconsciously I know the "story" exists and my mind can be free again.

i have many idea too. but, in creating comic, its better stick to one story. i never heard any short comic story that are very popular here, correct me if i'm wrong~

I let a bunch of ideas accumulate over many years and picked out ideas that fit well together to make one big story, and that's the story I'm working on now. I only have a few big projects in mind and when I get a new idea I usually end up working it into one of my big stories somehow. I wish I could do more short-form comics on the side but it's hard for me to motivate myself to work on things that don't seem fleshed-out enough.
