All I want to say is "wow."

Top hated list? That list is more like "the most read list" and a lot of them have high ratings. It's so sad to see people don't read enough to cross a really bad book. Then again, who wants to read a bad book?

I read Maze Runner in high school and I liked it D:

I kind of feel like this is similar to those movie awards where it's just whatever movie had the best PR team or biggest name: ie Disney or Pixar beating out some lesser name movie company, just because "I R DISNEY".

A friend in highschool swore by the Eragon series before HP came around. So it must be damn good.

I'm confused why the fault in our stars is in there? It's kinda pretentious but when I read it in my early twenties I though it was okay and harmless. Is it because of the movie?

Also if the people who rated this had actually read the twilight books they would atleast be lower on the list because the books are HILARIOUS.

From what I heard about the fault in our stars review somewhere (it's been a long time so I don't even know if my memory is legit), people's mostly didn't like it because it's a 'sick lit', in which it glorified sickness and such. I haven't read it though, so I don't know the severity of the statement.

I never got the feeling from it when I read it, on the contrary the ending portrayal of things was quite upsetting to me. But that was like 5 years ago so I could be just talking horseshit

Tbf "Twilight" might be a bad book, but I don't think it really deserves to be so high on that list. Also I get the feeling some of the books made the list, because it's apparently cool to hate on YA books.

I am actually tempted to read Mein Kampf now I mean, it was written by Hitler and obviously have some preposterous ideas, but is it really a bad read?..
And how the hell the entire Harry Potter is here, but War and Piece is only on 800something place?

I feel like some of these are on the list because people were forced to read them in school and it gave them a burning hatred towards the book.

This is me with Of Mice and Men. But I at least sympathize with it's sucky ending because endings are hard.

Lots of these books are just most read books though. They're on the list because lots of people read them so lots of people had different opinions. There are far worse books out there that don't get enough attention for people to hate them despite their quality. (which I why I love youtube and its many "I found the worst book" reviews for those less known masterpieces).

Great Gatsby was a trainwreck if I recall after reading it lol it's such a dated painful piece to trudge through. Scott Fitzgerald's work was the equivalent of ad execs posting memes to their twitters, his obsession with wealth and the 1920s made his work sub par. Also the racist stuff in there was just somehow worse than most stuff from the early 20th century, there was only so much I could take after reading 10 pages of "evil jew nose". I can totally understand why it got on there.

a lot of these don't deserve to be here. People are just putting books they were forced to read in high school like others have said. And Lolita. I get it? Well, I get people are triggered by the content but the writing itself is amazing.

In my opinion, it is one great book. It is very interesting to see a child that is rejected by everyone since his birth trying to find... That something. This book is disturbing in a lot of times, but then again, it's filled with a lot of humor (or at least it is for me. I just really into dark humor).

Summary

I mean, there's kidnapping, murder, making perfume out of humans, and cannibalism at the end... (somewhat)

So i would really recommend it if you're into those kind of thigs. including the psychological aspect and how the People that life in that time period act.

And I'm still wondering how to kill a mockingbird was on the top 200. I read that book long ago and really love it. Is it because of the racism part that takes most of the book focus?

It's alright for young readers but I think it doesn't age too well. I know I dropped it during Brisingr because the elf worship and long, long descriptive chapters got out of hand, but I really don't hold it out against the writer at that point. Paolini got big and could do whatever he wanted with the books, and that's not entirely a good thing. I think people also had problems with the ending of Inheritance but I never looked into it.

the ending was normal in my opinion and the elf worship I saw it more like they where dicks and described as such but that just may be my subjective view, still would recommend the book it's good Imo also Dwarft riders why the heck hasn't been a dwarft rider yet? that would be awesome.

The cerimony where the stuff happens with Eragon is far from that. It's just a cascade of "look how their senses are keener, they don't bother with politics beyond the necessary, they're one with nature, how glamorous" and the only thing that they're mentioned to be bad at is getting involved in anything to save the realm.

And yeah, elves are cool, just the praise got disproportionally huge compared to any other race - even the Dwarves had a lot of 'hey here's their religion, they're neat, alright moving on'.

hell that happened the same with the dwarves though in eldes, the chapters upon chapters about the city its architecture and history, the craftsmanships and the culture plus the ninja dwarves and such (been some time since I read the books so my memory is kind of fuzzy) so we could say Eragon =human book, Eldest = dwarves book, Brisinger=Elves book and Inheritance=DragonRiders is basically how I saw the series =0

but hey to each their own I guess

A lot of these books aren't necessarily the worst, more just overhyped. I wasn't a fan of Twilight but I have read worse books.

The worse book I've ever read was TTFN (The Internet Girls book 2) by Lauren Myracle.
