I mainly post on Line Webtoon, and haven't really even touched tapas other than uploading my work.
I started posting in April, and my engagement was really low so it made sense that the number of views/subscribers was low too.
After a few months (I've been on hiatus for a bit) I came back In August and I found that sometime during this month I got over 100 subscribers in a day, all being open and engaged in my work (liking, commenting, even expressing that they wish they could donate ink).

Does anyone have an idea as to why this happened? Is it something I can control? If I see tapas as a great medium for my comic than I would be more than willing to actively participate in the tapas community more!

It could be that your comic finally had enough episodes to feature more highly in the algorithm (which I think may be a thing), or that your work was featured in either a staff pick or a community pick during that time. Or that it was thrown further up on the algorithm on the app for a day etc.

I guess you probably were on the front page and got some amazing readers  This is basically the only way to get this much subs "out of nowhere".

Oh man and they don't even let you know? Damn... I wish I could have taken a screenshot if I really did get featured holy crap thats p much a dream come true TT

Is that a great thing? I wish my comic reached that subscriber. Btw did you advertise it or smt?

Getting featured? I would say it’s the best thing to happen to you as a comic creator, it means that not only does your comic get exposed to a bunch of people at once but that tapas likes your work (which could mean opportunities in the future)

The reason I asked this in the forum was actually because I didn’t do any advertising; whenever I mentioned my comic to my friends I would send them to the Line Webtoons page. I only uploaded it to tapas just in case there was an audience here (in which I guess there was!)

omg wait is that a compliment... if it is tysm :sob::sob: I'm just glad that people like reading my story 🥺

If they feature you, they always let you know. Tapas has let me know each time. I agree, getting those screenshots is nice! If you didn't get a message from them, then there are few other possibilities other than a feature. You might have reached trending which would have given you a lot of new visibility; or someone recommended/shared your series on another platform or even in the forums. Or it was aliens! Always a possibility.

Either way, congrats! Engagement is the best! Keeps creators creating ^_^

OH thank god!! I would have cried if I actually missed a feature TT Hoping it was aliens >:3

I was in community picks on tapas but I didn't know until my friend pointed it out to me, so they don't always tell you

Webtoons never tells you if they promote your comic in my experience. Even if you're in the recommended comics where the image is a screenshot from your comic, they pick the screenshot themselves instead of asking you.

No they don't let you know. Not for comics. They only have this feature for novels.

Sucks for you comic creators!

Weird how its only for novels
