I believe most new creators run into this dilemma when publishing on web.
I've been thinking, if you can see all the important details and read the text without excessive squinting on mobile, it's ok to use print format. There's so much more room for making dynamic action sequences and such if you don't limit yourself to one panel per line.. And personally, I still do my line art on paper, so that's another incentive to make the layout traditional.
However, webtoon-style layout is usually easier on the eyes, and I think generally more suited for non-action style comics.. In any case, I'd just go with whatever makes it more exciting to read, and not worry about compatibility unless someone points it out.
