Fantomestein and Brain Damage come to mind immediately as far as what I read on a regular basis.
Fantomestein is based off the books Phantom of the Opera and Frankenstein, and wonderfully fleshes out Christine as a complex person who is determined to be in control of her own life and to save the people she loves from any harm. None of ALW's damsel in distress nonsense, which is refreshing as someone who has enjoyed POTO for over a decade.
Brain Damage is about a woman who learns of her terminal illness and is assigned an 'afterlife advisor'. It has really delved into the life of a career woman who is attempting to keep her life intact even in the face of death. Chapter 2 is ending soon, I think?
And if you'd like to read my comic, Heart Hex, it's about a woman who, after being cheated on, summons a demon to get revenge, and the consequences of her actions as the story goes on. Chapter 1 just finished, and Chapter 2 will start posting in May!
