Oh I just noticed you guys moved the support button out of the menu when reading episodes. Thanks so much :tapa_pop:

Alright I do gotta say I am getting used to the site, but I still don't like the all the whiteness. I would like the yellow to come back and for there to be more dark areas. I also still haven't gotten used to all the clicks we have to do to read episodes. The old episode/description combo design needs to come back

This thread has been a rollercoaster lmao. I respect and appreciate the tapas team for going through this and hosting an open review forum.

However can someone enlighten me how the algorithm changed/broke specifically for the popular section? Trending is bad/different too but at least it’s mixed with recent updates (feels 30% like the old Popular)

Currently, on popular: (Comics - BL - Free to read)
- Most of the NSFW comics previously loved by Popular on an upload/engagement basis don’t appear (the reach could've been from 5 to 50k; regardless of sub count - they’re not there for one second)
- the usual sfw popular comics appear
- ghosted comics appear
- ghosted comics # 2
- comics who have 100 subs and have not uploaded since 2019 May appear

If we could get an insight on how popular changed and how these were/are selected, at least until it changes again, creators could think up some counter measures so their nsfw comic would appear somewhere on the desktop site.

I’ve been an avid looker on all charts/trends for 3 years on here. Tbh this is the first time I haven’t seen any of the nsfws I read (including my own comic2) on popular/trending. In the past, any comic could’ve crawled up there for a bit. So what changed? :no_mouth: And how can we do better?

I'm seeing a lot of authors of NSFW comics say they've become invisible on the main site, and are probably going to have to leave

Yeah the variance in titles is definitely different from before the update.
But I'm still seeing nsfw stories displayed?
Ten on the popular main page of all comics, censored, but the characters are still nude and engaged in intercourse.
And Blood Moon, Nival, Crossing the Moon, Cuddlefish, and a bunch of others are visible in Trending Novels. And a number of other novels with nsfw scenes are appearing in Popular atm.

@michaelson Since this update is meant to align the desktop more with the app, does that mean the app's algorithms have carried over as well? And since a number of nsfw comics are shadowbanned from the app, did that affect what's displaying on desktop? Like I can still see some so not all comics with nsfw scenes are gone, but they aren't appearing in the amount before the update, we've noticed.

The popular section is now back to normal! Hecc, amazing. :heart_01:

@michaelson I'll be honest! I was pretty surprised when I saw the update! I was just on the site a few days before it happened! And I do see what others are saying about copying webtoons! :smirk:

But! I thought it was a pretty cool idea updating the site! It's good to change things every couple years are so. I would suggest. Since "I feel like you're not gonna change the way it's design" It would be best to at least change the colors back to normal! In stead of the plan white look! Trust me the new design of the site with those iconic colors would look perfect together!

But most importantly we creators have to have our series banners back! That's a must! Banners make our series feel way more on brand! And helps potential readers become more drawn to our comics!

Also just so you know my series ad picture goes on and off between clear and blurry! Just in case that needs to be fixed!

I still love Tapas, but there's still some things that need to be fixed!

I would like to thank you for taking the time to read our concerns, and dealing with all the unnecessarily overboard hateful comments! :smirk: Keep up the good work Tapas Staff! I have faith! :two_hearts:

Added the updated fixes to the parent post.

Not entirely - we did modify the algorithm a bit more in order to hopefully diversify the featured series within that section, however, we are being cautious of making sure that NSFW marked series are still being represented on the web as that prominence is less visible on the app. That being said with every major revamp of the web, the algorithms do take time to gather new data so it's initial selections will be slightly confusing.

Currently working on a solution to this.

So glad to see the algorithm is somewhat back to normal! I saw quite the slowdown in the time that it wasn't :sweat_02:

@michaelson I have another problem with the mature section, although that also happened in the old layout.

I tried clicking through most of comic there, but half of the time I got this:

"not available in my country"? O____o" Whut? Is that a bug on tapas' end or should I blame Germany? XD

dunno if a bug or i'm missing something
but it won't let me reach episode 2 of this

it says March 20, so it should be on schedule i guess. Perhaps make it clear what's a scheduled episode and what isn't, please?

This was probably already mentioned, but when I'm reading a comic on my computer and open the episode list, I can't right-click on them to open a different episode in a new window. It's really annoying :frowning: I think it's important to be able to quickly check on previous episodes, especially for long comics.

Just wanted to say that today I can't access any of the free comic saturday comics on the computer. It is fine on the app but on the website it freezes up and just shows a greying of the screen without even the options to buy.

Otherwise i've been having a fine time with the website.
