The gold tier is really good for those that can get it (the requirement is lower than the old 800 credit)

Buuuut I'm not a fan of the fact only gold and platinum tier comics will get additional promotion opportunities. Seems fairly limited to a small handful of comics. Not that they don't deserve them, but I would hope that Webtoon extends their promotions instead of showing the same dozen comics repeatedly.

I agree i thought it would end as well, and it says it will go on until the end of 2021, i thought with the increase of more stories reaching those numbers, that they would either stop it all together and lower the 40,000 view requirment or just scrap it.

So this is indeed a big suprise

I agree with you there, they kind of already do that, i see the same comic being rotated for promtion on the front page, they did an instagram interview where it said it was ment for people who didnt have a folowing.

Yet i have seen people who have around 80,000 plus subs on the front, they already in the top 30 section and populer why need to promote them more. What was the old gold tier i cant remember

Ah, good ol' Webtoons. They say I can't join into their revenue share program because even though I have the numbers, my comic breaches community guidelines. However, they're still quite happy to keep hosting my comic and obtain the revenue my readers generate.

huh! is this automatic? i’ve never seen anything about beta credit before

i'm more surprised they actually are keeping the Beta Credit in 2020! I thought they were discontinuing it once 2019 is over. I need to look more into this.

I usually hit the ~100K views ($200 tier).
With this new plan, many would probably be a hair away from the $300 credit, since there is no longer a $200 tier anymore : P This is fine i guess. The trade off of having this program continue is worth it.

Protip: You get significantly much more views per month if you split your uploads into many smaller parts as opposed to fewer but longer episodes. If you don't care for Beta Credits then upload however you please : P

It's automatic once you successfully connect your Patreon to your webcomic
Every month you can find a notice with a list of all legible creators with how much everyone is getting too ( good for insight :eyes: )

There is a separate ad revenue counted every 21st of each month. So basically, the maximum is 1000$ + Ad revenue

Can't you just create a website and have ads there and tell your readers you would really appreciate if they would visit your website instead, because webtoons doesn't take you into their ad program

I could but, who's going to go there? Tapas and Webtoons have pretty much a monopoly on webcomics and a shit-kicker like me would get lost without a trace without large websites like these.

What I meant is you say it in the creators comment that way your readers know. But also keep it running there and posting your website in comments or have an extra page with website info

Sorry, my response wasn't quite clear. I mean, I doubt my readers would bother hopping over to another website to read my comic, not in any significant numbers anyway.

This is unfortunately true. Users are rather ‘lazy’ when it comes to follow people out of their favorites platforms.
I remember when I outgrew a german platform and switched over to deviantart hardly anyone cared. Once I went to Facebook, where already lots of my old followers were anyway, I regained many of them literally over night.
You must be extremely outstanding with a great product in order for your audience to follow you onto new (or independent) places. But usually it’s vice versa, you as creator have to bring it to them

Some ad publishers have requirement of reaching minimum unique visitors of your website though, and usually it's a high number.

Can I ask something a bit offtopic to you guys? For those who have beta credit for november... Have you gotten your credit yet this december on your patreon?

I remember a few webcomics post at least a single update ahead on their own website to drive traffic there, and it's been quite successful from observation.
Extra incentive if your website offers uncensored updates too (trust me, I KNOW this from experience. I literally did not update my webcomic on Tapas in months and YET my most viewed update is the one with the uncensored panels... by a LANDSLIDE. I did not even advertise it at all lmao)
