Watched [I think the season finale of] Golden Kamuy...this show is SOOO good.

I'm re-watching the shows I used to watch as a kid (Yumeiro patisiere and Kilari) as well as Parasite.

Watched The Anthem of the Heart today. It was good. Not particularly 'great', but somewhere between good and great, I guess. Regardless, I enjoyed it lots.
Also, I got to see this cute af character in action! She's almost perfect to be a cinnamon roll.

Ahh what was I saying? It was great. Great, I tell you! :joy:

Started watching Neon Genesis Evangelion yesterday.

Started watching Hyouka and Golden Kamuy with my sister recently. Hyouka's.. Kinda alright for a slice of life/mystery anime? I was dozing off in a few episodes despite liking the characters and their interactions. Golden Kamuy is pretty good though! We finished up season 1 and it's a lot more comedic than I was expecting it to be given the heavy amounts of graphic violence. It's important to mention that there's CG used for animals.. Hopefully most people can forgive it for being the quality that it is lol

@ar-ninetysix Hyouka.....IS.......well........ kind of weird, actually. I watched the first 5 eps with my sister as well and then dropped it for months before she forced me to watch it as she finished it while I went to watch other stuff. I didn't dislike it, but even though I love most slice of life anime, this was kind of hard to get through. But once I finished it, I felt like I did enjoy it.

As I said, it's weird. But isn't bad imo.

Nana. After many years of saying I would watch it, I finally did- and it's worth every minute!

I liked Hyouka though, or is it because I am not much into battle anime?

I've seen a series of videos analyzing the cinematography. I guess it appeals to certain audiences.

My main issue is that a huge chunk of the "mysteries" don't lead up anything important down the line. I'm halfway through atm and so far there's no real plot to speak of, and everything that does happen seems to only happen bc of Chitanda's curiosity and Oreki's unwillingness to say no.

Idk, like.. I'm enjoying the characters, the soundtrack, the art direction, and the cinematography, but the main thing?? The story??? If there's supposed to be one, it doesn't feel present at all tbh and if it was gonna be like that from the get-go, I'd be more easy-going on it, but the setup was there and not much has been delivered yet. Kinda feels like a waste in some ways, but like I said, I'm halfway through it so idk we'll see if my opinion changes later on

The mysteries aren't meant to lead up to anything, I guess. I think they were there to explore the characters more, actually. I thought that the first couple of mysteries were dumb, to begin with.

I was pretty angry about the entire cultural festival thing, with nothing big/important enough happening to keep my attention. But it got a bit better towards the latter half if I remember correctly.

Yes, I do remember feeling cliffhanged at the end of the last episode. "That's it?" kind of thing. I agree with you in that the "mysteries" are mostly there to explore character.

But I remember the Youtube vids, explaining the small character actions and cinematographic choices as things and indicators of a character's state and development but I guess not everyone will be keen to catch on something so subtle like that.

I was keen as well. Since the mysteries weren't giving me anything to concentrate on, I was literally ready with a microscope to rip apart everything, "not a clue shall pass". Turned out the entire anime was a mystery for the viewer to uncover and see what subtleties Kyoto Animation put into it.

I really really wanted to read the light novel. Sadly, I can't buy them from where I live and couldn't get any arrrgh :skull_crossbones: :ship: either. If anyone knows any sites where I can read light novels in English, pls let me know.

Just wondering if KyoAni did this for their other shows.

Will do.

I finished watching Beastars more than a week ago, and it was good! I gotta admit that I was not too keen on watching it at first because of non-human characters (just used to seeing people so it was kind of different). Also, sub will always have a better advantage over dub ( Japanese VAs apparently did a bit of stage acting when recording the lines and the dub was done traditionally) Maybe because I'm not a native English speaker but the dub was good(Jonah Scott was what pulled me in).
The story veers a bit mature at times, but the MC is someone I rarely see as a main character. So relatable too.

You'll love it, man. Although that's what everyone told me before and while I watched it, it took 8 eps for me to actually appreciate it.

It's been a while since I watched anime tbh, but the last one I think is NanBaka
(Hope this counts)
