Peanuts and Marmaduke have probably been my favorites for the longest time along with Family Circle

If anything most comics in the sunday paper were a bit of a treat though the only one i didn't really get into was bizzaro but it's likely because i didn't get the humor/charm of it as a kid

Aw shoot, I haven't read newspaper comics in eons it seems. I do recall enjoying 'Baby Blues,' and I believe that one is still going like... so many others (but, uh, good for them?!). The 'Rugrats' strip left very little impression on me, just because I used to enjoy the TV show so much back in the day. And on that note, the 'Baby Blues' animated series was surprisingly okay!?! But it only lasted the one season. Oh well!

Sorry I didn't bring up obvious choices like 'Calvin and Hobbes,' I've only read that one in book form. And I bring up 'Baby Blues' because of all the newspaper comic strips that I used to read, that one may have influenced my current comic (still in production) the most. Go figure.

Never got to read that one outside of books but I definitely got a kick out of that one!

Peanuts is a given - the compilation books were what inspired me to become a cartoonist, and they gave me an education in how to construct a gag strip.

Doonesbury is wonderful, but it's like a soap opera, I didn't understand what was going on until I read the first treasury collection and learned where the characters came from and how they relate to one another. As a kid in the 70s, I thought it was a strip about a big white building that talked to itself.

And a big shout out to the British strip the Perishers - in its pomp in the 1970's this strip was the best drawn comic ever. They're so good that 40 years later the Daily Mirror is still reprinting them. https://www.mirror.co.uk/lifestyle/cartoons/perishers/

Calvin and Hobbes, Peanuts and Garfield, the big 3! Lots of memories as a kid reading those, both in the paper and in books.

I haven't even looked at a newspaper in years...I was mostly interested in them when I was younger, so I always liked the strips with cute-looking characters, like Shoe, Kevin & Kell, The Big Happy, Lio, Cathy...I can't remember the names of all of them. ^^;

I did like Peanuts, Garfield, and especially C&H, but of those three I liked what I found in the collections more than what I found in newspapers.
Anyway, I'd say my favorite has to be Foxtrot. It's both cute AND hilarious; my sister bought me a collection book for Christmas last year~

Foxtrot, Non Sequitor, and judge parker. Util recently, those were actually the only comics I followed

Personally, my favorites are Life in Hell, Calvin and Hobbes, and Non Sequitor.

I don't like modern Garfield, Family Circus, and Mark Trail, but I can see why other people might like them.

It's been a while since I've read newspaper comics too, but Dilbert and Non Sequitur were probably my favorites. I liked Pearls Before Swine at some point, but the humor got kinda stale after a while imo.

I never liked Garfield.

Calvin and Hobbes is wonderful, but I've also only read it in book form.

I hated Doonesbury, but then again I was never its target audience.

Calvin and Hobbes, Farside, Bloom country some of my favorites mostly because I grew up with them. I can't even decide whats my least favorite. last time I checked a newspaper half of the strips I didn't even recognize who made them and I don't even know what the joke was.
