I only watch TV when staying with relatives like I did last week. But here are my fair and accurate opinions on what I watched;
Classic Star Trek. 60s to 2000
When they were bad they were embarrassing. When they were great they were untouchable SF drama. Watch just the first two seasons of TOS. Skip animated series. Start TNG, Enterprise, and Voyager from season 3. DS9 from season 2.
Classic Doctor Who
Tom Baker's run is considered the golden age of the show for a reason. The episode padding had become greatly reduced and I don't care what anyone thinks of the modern show's writing, bad is better than boring. And hoo-boy, did the first three Doctors have the padding. Start from Pyramids of Mars. After Caves of Androzani the good episodes become too hard to find among the bad so jump around to whatever strikes your fancy.
One Piece Live Action
The actors are good. The story is fun. The pacing does suffer from being written for the binge watch. Too early to see if it'll become something as bloated and repetitive... er, sorry..."legendary"... as the comic but I'm willing to watch season 2 and find out.
Dorohedoro
The manga took what should be a dumb edgelord concept fit only for 14 year old boys and raised it with well realized characters and well constructed world building. While MORE BOOBA! does dominate the designs of the two main women characters they're also given bodies that don't fit the typical anime girl design. That's pretty cool.
As for the anime itself? Read the comic instead. But that's my advice for 99.9% of anime series.
Cuz it's true.
I also watched another recent seasonal anime that weabs were talking about a lot when it came out, but I can't remember its name nor anything about it so I guess that tells you how good it was. I'll add the name later should I remember it so someone can gnash their teeth at my dismissal of it.
Ah! Komi Can't Communicate. Same old high school anime tropes that have been run ragged since the 70s.
