What are your favourite video games from before the 2000's?

GoldenEye 007 was my top pick back then—I used to play it for hours with friends. I still look for games that bring that same excitement, which is why I’ve been messing around with bo6 cheats and hacks lately. They kind of bring back that thrill of trying something unexpected, like finding secret tunnels or getting infinite ammo.

didnt think id see rhis get revived but recently got putt putt saves the zoo on switch for some good ol nostalgia

and i feel like point-and-click has been making a pretty solid comeback thanks to like the sam and max games but also ena: dream bbq and tangle tower (which im praying i can grab the next time it goes on sale)

that like even tho its not an old game i like how well ultrakill nails that retro vibe at least visually but also just has kickass gameplay (been running the demo and finally made it through all of prelude)

I loved playing Sonic games the most back then, come to think of it. And Virtual On that one time I got to play it in arcades. Would later get the PC port. Still gotta figure out how to get controllers working on it on windows 10/11.

Finally! Someone else who's aware of Bust A Groove's existence! I never had the chance to play 2, but I had the 1st one. I pretty much memorized all the songs and my favorite characters were Shorty and Frieda. Looking at the footage for 2, I like that the button inputs are highlighted and the score counter has actual numbers instead of just a color bar

I wasn't alive much before the 2000s but my parents are lovable nerds and had an original PlayStation, so I grew up playing Tomb Raider (not the og one I don't think? Maybe TR2), Crash Bandicoot and one of the PS1 Spyros. Though I don't remember the exact titles, if you were to show me the loading screen it would be immediate. I absolutely loved those games even though the TR difficulty level was way to high for 4yo me.

I've played both generations. My favorite character is Kitty-N.
Personally, I prefer the second generation. The fourth beat is divided into "hit" and "perfect hit," creating more variations and making it more fun.

When attacked by an opponent, you can choose to dodge or bounce it back. You need perfect timing to bounce it back. Back in the day, my friends and I would bounce attacks back and forth several times in a row—super exciting XD

I've always been a big fan of older games. I probably prefer them over newer ones, actually. I'm a Nintendo buff, so my top 3 would probably be (not in order) Super Metroid, Earthbound and Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars. Honourable mentions go to the Sega Genesis Sonic games.
