Colour is a major winner according to most of the comments on West which I find both confusing and wonderful because I really have no idea what I'm doing!
Dialogue and banter also get a lot of feedback. Readers find the funny parts funny, the sad parts sad, and seem to pick up on the personalities at play without a problem which means a great deal to me as I frequently agonize over the right wording to use. It's hard to know when you're revealing too much or too little but so far no one seems have been confused.
Character design is also a hit which means a lot to me. Sometimes I wonder if they outfits/enemies are overly simplified (I don't have the time to produce complicated outfits again and again, and it's not really my style) but so long as people can distinguish characters without a problem from dialogue and general demeanor that's all I really want. The late introduction of demons was also well received, lots of nice words on the designs there which was a relief.
I get a lot of comments like 'whoa' and 'omg!' and 'badass!' and 'cool!' which gives me the impression that people are generally excited about what's taking place, so that's a load off my mind. Sometimes I worry that the comic is a bit of an emotional roller coaster and I'm asking for trouble playing with people's expectations. I mean, it's really big ask to offer so little in the way of explanation but demand so much feeling at the same time. Like this chapter is going on forever, why should they continue to care? But they do seem to care and share in my excitement, and I'm really touched by that.
Honestly, I've had a really good run with readers so far. They're incredibly generous with their feedback and patience. I've had no negative feedback that I know of. I'm very privileged.
