What do you do with your REALLY old art?

I can't keep everything. It's too much. But, everything that's in sketchbooks is kept. I have all of my sketchbooks, right down to the very first one. Old prints go in the garbage, some older digital pieces are saved with the rest of the really old crap, but most get deleted. I'll never use it again.

I want to make sure I don't hold on too much to the past and leave room to grow and create new stuff. I do keep some, I just can't keep everything. But, I kept everything when it comes to my comic series. Even the original script. I'll never use the old stuff, but it's documented history of this project.

I have a bunch of container. It can be a bit overwhelming because some of it goes back to 5th grade. I recently organized my loose papers into plastic sleeves. I then found these plastic folders to place them in.

I also had this habit of sketching on the back of old school worksheets which I ended up clipping them together

Yep. This right here. I have three huge boxes of all the art I have done since kindergarten. It's enjoyable to look through it and see all my wacky ideas I had over the years. Sometimes I redraw them too!

I have all of my art still. I have a big box of art in my room from like age 7-18. My mom kept all of my kindergarten art. It's just lying around somewhere. I can never bring myself to throw it out. I like to go trough it sometimes.

In December I did a deep cleaning and finally found all my drawings that were mixed with other books or magazines into catalogued boxes and now I have like 5 boxes of my old drawings from since I was 18. I dont think I will ever toss them away ever. But since Ive been on digital art more at least I dont think I will need a new box for a long time in the future.

This is one of my OCs and Jelly's avatar art I did back in 2011 when I was still playing rps lol

I like to collect my old art, so I can look back at it later and laugh my ass off at how stupid I was. Recently, I've actually been redrawing some art. For example, one of these was done in 2017 and the other was done last week.

Well, a lot of my pretty old stuff is on Deviantart still. My Devart has works dating back to my teens. Earlier stuff I keep around in folders for posterity, and my oldest drawings from when I was a kid are at my parents house. This turned out to be pretty useful when a few years back for lols I redrew a little girl's hearthstone card, it went viral and then a guy from Kotaku emailed like "can I interview you? Did you do stuff like this when you were a little girl?"

Please enjoy some terrible old Sonic fanart and fan characters from me aged like 6-7 years old.

I actually use it as inspiration! Sometimes I look back and smile at how old me did certain things in art and its nice to try that stuff again with improved skills.

and the remake

When it comes to old comic pages etc, I like to leave them there?
Most readers say they enjoy seeing the art progression so I try to not judge old art too harshly.

Thanks ! I can't really salvage the story because it's absolute mary sue garbage, but the characters meant a lot to me back then. If you have old OCs of your own I'd definitely encourage you to revisit them ! It's 10/10 fun
