What do you feel when the same people who like your comics, also like comics which you think is rubbish?

I myself have a lot of comics in my library which I didn't read yet, but just plan to read. So I don't even know if I will like them or not.

is true that some readers don`t have the time to read everything they would like to read, but i guess they would unsub if they dont like it.

Don`t worry about it, @tired_programmer . I think your readers enjoy your comic! . There is no reason for them to sub to a story they dont like.

Personally, i just sub to comics i enjoy and are my cup of tea. Or comics where i see a potential for them to get interesting.

I have no problem with my readers liking things i think that "suck" or are not my thing. Tastes vary a lot from person to person (i know lots of people already said that in this thread , but it`s truth.)

this constantly happens to me in real life, I don't share tastes with my friends. They do like my work but they also like remarkably tasteless, tacky mainstream stuff. of course, I'm juding from my own opinion if something is worth my time or not, so I learnt to still respect their opinion. The good part of respecting each other is that I can mock them to their face for liking some stuff and they do that to me too, so I don't have to pretend I'm not repulsed by some of their TV shows selection. I guess he have good trust levels.

If part of the appeal of your comic is making fun of certain cliches, the people who enjoy and get those jokes need some familiarity with those cliches. In fact, the more familiar with it they are, the better chance they'll pick up on clever and funny commentary. So if there's an over lap, that could account for it?

But also, while it's okay for you not to like something, try not to be too judgemental of other people liking it! I have tons if guilty pleasures! I have favorite cliches! Indulgence can be stress relief, and not everything I want to engage in will always be super deep, artistic, or clever. Sometimes fun is enough. Or any number of other pleasing traits.

Their relationship with your comic, and what they get out or it, has nothing to do with their relationship with another comic. Try to worry less!

You can love gourmet food and Twinkies at the same time. There are people who ove studying philosophy and watching dumb sitcoms.

Judging your subscribers for their taste, especially in a public forum is just plain bad form. You're on a platform made for "pop" media. It's going to be rife with readers who consume such things. It's on par with posting at FurAffinity and sneering at the fact that your followers also like furry or smutty content.

You've got subscribers. That means they enjoy your comic and want to know when new pages come out. So what's it matter if they also read anime-inspired fluff?

I think that people can like all types of comics, and we are bound to disagree about whether a particular one is "good" or "bad." Besides, even a reader encouraging "every author they know" is still a great person to have around. There wouldn't be a reason for them to subscribe if they didn't like the comic, in my opinion.

I'd missed that part. Why WOULDN'T you want someone to encourage you? But I suppose it comes down to the reason you're here and the reason your making comics. If it's to make a story and put it where people can easily read it--why does it matter what else they read? If it's for something like scathing commentary that should be changing the minds of all who read it and having a major social impact or something like that..........you're in the wrong place. If it's just to get the reader clicks, why's it matter what else they read?

For me, the most likeable aspect of this platform aren't 'pop' comics, but the variety of original stuff, made by different people. It's easy for anyone to upload their creative works on this platform and then go on this forum and discuss them. This platform is more liberal and give people more freedom in what they can upload and how they can communicate with each other. So you can find a lot of original stuff here.
So I think there are other creators and readers, who came here for the same reasons.

But if the person is encouraging every author they know, this means that at least some of their lauditive comments aren't sincere? It's hard to believe that it is possible to sincerely like content of all authors you know.
Moreover, when I accidentally see that the person likes the comics which I hate, I start to doubt, do they really like my stuff or they tell that they like it just from other reasons...

I think we are back to the same cultural difference problem again: in some cultures honesty is the most important, in some it's politeness. It's difficult to deal with it because often it is going opposite ways. Took me years to understand, and I still forget it sometimes.

If a reader truly disliked your comic but wanted to be encouraging to new authors, they probably just wouldn't subscribe and would go find other authors to support. There's plenty out there.

I don't think there are too many people who have energy making comments everywhere if they are not interested. :> (They do, right? That's why you said "Someone say that they like your comics", right? :D)

People are lazy. Most of them don't make comments, even if they like the comic. Just read silently. What is sad because I love reading comments. :'D
I know there are people who make more comments than others(mostly creators... This is my guess. We know the value of comments). But still I think the number of those who has spare energy for commenting on almost anyone's comic is low.

About some of them keep "rubbish" comics in their library: Eeeek... Hm. I don't knooow. Actually I know I'm really picky about comics. It always a surprise for me other users have hundreds or thousands of comics in their library. And I have... Twelve. So I think we are just different. And our thinking is subjective. :> What is "rubbish" for you is not necessary rubbish for someone else.

Honestly, my tastes have zero definition. I know I like trash, or stuff that a lot of other people say is trash. But I also like "quality" stuff too. Another thing to note, someone could just have something in their library to have it in their library. But just because someone has tastes that argue with yours doesn't mean that it's an indicator they don't really like your comic or novel. I like to try a lot of different things instead of keeping myself in a box. So even if i hear something is bad i'm going to read it anyway. There could be different situations like that where it's not necessarily a bad thing about your comic.

Definitely agree with you. Everyone has different reading habits and those can change online. Just the fact that you know other people could see what's in your library, strangers you'll never meet, you might "change" your tastes because you don't want them to see something.

Yes, sometimes I forget about this too. In America, where I live, the internet culture is all about brutal honesty, but this is definitely different in other countries. I usually try to stay polite online, because I get some level of anxiety when commenting -- yes, I censor my comments. But it all depends on where you're from and what cultural values you have.

Actually, I have the opposite experience: I'm born and grew up in France, then moved to North America 14 years ago (Canada, but I don't see a whole lot of difference between Canada and the US on that aspect, even if Canada is more outwardly polite).
In France, what I was considering friendly honest is considered extremely rude in NA (eg. Telling people about their flaws, unprompted). 14 years later I still struggle a lot, still am considered as a super rude person, and I don't think I could keep a job (I'm self employed). Amusingly, I must have somewhat integrated the behaviour a bit though, because I now find French people super rude sometimes . I must be midway now!

But I'm sure that for other cultures, NA is rude. There's a whole range.
