I like on-going (not endless) comics such as action, supernatural, fantasy, romance, adventure, crime, historical, etc. The only types of comics I will not read as much are sports, slice of life or comedy.

Not really someone with a specific preference.

I seem to gravitate toward incredibly silly things, or incredibly well thought out storylines, though...

i love a lot of genres, but i gravitate towards romance, comedy, horror, mystery, or experimental comics. i also love, love, love comics with 'weird' art styles.

I'm making a romance/drama comic, but believe it or not, I'm mostly into horror or psychological stories.
Shounen-type manga is cool, too, but only if it's done right since I'm rather picky ;;;

usually action fantasy type, I like my Vanilla XD. Also, a bit of romance from time to time =)

Um.
There's action.
And then there's the philosophical love type of thing.
(Think like TFIOS, or Nisekoi, or Toradora, or (insert shounen anime))
God I'm such a cliché...

I generally prefer the lesser known comics because it is clear to me that the creator is still telling the story that she or he prefers instead of responding to a demand. Beyond that, I am looking through my subscriptions and seeing a lot of variety. I've got a couple of horror titles, some comics with amateurish appearances but I find hilarious, and gorgeous comics which make no attempt to be funny. My novel subs are likewise diverse. My current favorite comic is the shockingly underrated series, Children of the Moon.

While i agree there may be a stronger pressure to please a fanbase, i think is unfair to put all the mainstream in the same sack.

Sometimes, a well known story stands out because is unique.

But is great people like you are seeking hidden gems we may not find otherwise.

You are correct. Can be either horror or just overall exploring the darker side of fantasy.

That is very cool!!
It is amazing to know there is a specific genre for these kind of stories. I thought it was simply horror.

I can read a variety of stuff- the story & art just has to intrigue me. I'll admit, superhero comics are at the top of my list, but I also read stuff like Paper Girls, the Vertigo Death mini series, and one of my current faves- Giant Days.

Yeah it is pretty neat, its a sub genre of fantasy but not a lot of people seem to be familiar with it. My own comic is a dark fantasy but many people call it a horror comic :joy:

I love horror comics, especially ones that can tell a story more than focusing on gore. In fact, those are the stories I'm inspired to tell. The ones where nothing even happens to the characters are the scariest (when executed right): just having that fear of what could happen linger leaves you on edge.

My favorite horror creators are Jinji Itou, Emily Carroll, H.P.Lovecraft, and Stephen King.

Currently, I am in love with Anansi's Goatman. The whole idea that someone is out of place and it slips through your senses is just so creepy O-O
