Hi, everyone!
I am in the process of designing and building a site for my comic and I was wondering what design choices would be smart for such a use case. For my comic, my audience is built from 8 different places so I feel like a central hub would be beneficial as a supplement and for organization purposes.
While I know how to build a site generally, I'm having a bit of trouble determining how exactly to structure it.
In my opinion, a good webcomic site should have:
- The comics on the homepage.
- A homepage sidebar with some basic information on the comic as well as links to a store and Patreon
- Comic pagination
- Comments (through Disqus or Facebook, preferrably)
- Social links in the footer
- Archive, search, and RSS functions
- Responsive stylesheets, of course (mobile-friendly)
- An about page
...but that feels like it's only the obvious stuff and I suspect that I'm missing some details.
So, I'd like to know your opinions too!
What do you look for in a good webcomic website? What are some features you enjoy? What are some features you dislike? Do you have any examples (it can even be your own)?
Thanks!
