What do you love and hate the most when Comic-ing?

I hope I'm putting this in the right place, if not I'm sorry and please remove it o: I'm sure this kind of post has been shown here, I just can't seem to find it? But I thought it would be a fun interaction with other artist. The title is as it says: What do you hate to draw in your comics the most, and what do you love drawing the most in your comics?

Personally, I love when I can do a nice close up of the character, normally shoulders up, with them talking, I just have fun getting the emotions and hair down right o: Also I love feet shots, I unno, I know there a bit of a cop-out because it just fills in a panel when showing movement of a character, but bare feet on the floor I'm always excited to draw it lol.

What I hate the most? Backgrounds! I hate them >.< But their so needed! Its jsut such a pain in the ass having to figure out the perspective and the details, and then if you want to color it all you have that to deal with!!

What about you guys!? What do you all hate and love the most when drawing your comic?

I tend to like thumbnailing and sketching my pages. Lineart is kind of boring and I don't really enjoy it, and coloring is usually ok, but kind of tedious sometimes. I like drawing sfx and closeup faces (cuz they're easier XD) and have a hard time whenever I have to draw hands...

I forgot about sfx >.< those are impossible o: I agree about the sketching and line art. Line art takes up so much time!

Backgrounds. Golly gee whiz backgrounds.

Sometimes they are nice but if i have to draw the same setting for more than one page uuuuug.

I also find myself zooming in on face to avoid backgrounds so I'm pushing myself to have more wide shots. It's exauuuusting.

I also don't like crowds. All those people i have to design and draw.

I have such respect for people who can do big cityscapes and huge crowd scenes. Just getting the perspective and size of the people right seems like it would take forever

Hmm...I like the whole creative process from rough messy unorganized lines to a nice inked and toned page. It feels soooo good to watch everything come together by your hand.

As for what I don't like about drawing Life of an Aspie? I hate how sometimes I have to practically make myself get up and work on my comic so that I don't miss a deadline. (I've been trying to get better about adhering to deadlines as of late). Tricky poses, hands, and anything big like a classroom that needs to look believable would also be things I cringe about drawing as an artist.

That's a tricky question, I kind of love everything about it, but the hate is not so much about drawing comics as it is my own short comings. The thing I love most is just drawing, I don't like drawing buildings or using perspective lines, but since it's drawing it's still enjoyable. The idea of getting your ideas out on paper is fun, and I don't have a favourite aspect of it in particular.
What I dislike is my lack of ability to tell an engaging story, with fun and interesting characters, and the fact that I can't dedicate the time needed to have a good updating schedule. Making comics is a big responsibility that I didn't even realize until I got into it, but it's certainly something I don't regret.

Do you have a buffer? Or thought about taking a month off to create a buffer for yourself? (If you don't know what a buffer is, it's a acumilated amount of finished pages you have already made so you don't have to worry about working from deadline to deadline) It really makes a huge difference and will take alot of stress of you o:

I used to hate drawing backgrounds, but I've come to love them! Putting my characters in a scene makes them feel more alive and tangible, see they exist in a real world?! I also like lettering-- a well lettered page makes me very happy.

In general, I hate laying out pages. It can take forever to get it just right...

I've thought about it. In fact, I've been trying to get one going while also providing a consistent schedule of updates per week. (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.) The biggest said buffers been so far is like 2-3 pages ahead of schedule. Right now, I'm sketching this weeks updates.

I would have to say that my favorite parts currently (it's bound to change a million times, i know it) is the shading, especially with my current shading style (it's like a puzzle), and recreating things i see in real life to my cartoony format. for instance, on my first page of AM (which i will be finishing up today and uploading, hype), Jay has this painting hanging up in his room, comically angled at exactly 7 degrees. i have the same one hanging in my room, and looking to my left and then back at my computer screen and seeing it look so stylized makes me really happy.

For things i hate, definitely fixing stupid mistakes that could have been easily avoided.

When you post something after working on it for hours nonstop, you go back and look after a day and notice just how many mistakes you made and then have to fix them all over again >.<

I am one of those weird people who loves inking! Expressions are my probably my favourite thing to draw. :>

I hate anything mechanical. Cars, motorcycles, whatever. Frankly, any transportation, I would rather just not draw. xD /PUTS ALL MY STORIES IN PSEUDOMEDIEVAL SETTINGS

I will like the sketching bit, where you get to experiment with expressions and how the scene will look. I never find it fun when it just doesn't look right. That and inking, but again, because it never looks right ahahaha

I LOVE sketching my pages and getting all the characters in their correct expressions, gestures, actions--all of the drawing part I absolutely love!!

What I hate is everything else. The coloring,shading,text, effects, backgrounds---all of it takes hours to complete and by the time I'm finished I'm wiped out. During it, I don't mind so much, but it's getting up to that point and beforehand I'm just dreading... But I feel so satisfied by the end of it and I love creating comics so I just put up with it anyway haha! I just wish I could wiggle my fingers and it magically be done in a few seconds lol!

I love penciling and inking, especially physically. After drawing for so many years, my hands start to feel weird if I don't draw for a day or two.

As for what I hate, scanning and editing is definitely up there. Scanning is just a pain and editing is a big hassle. If I want to keep my inks I have to get rid of all the white space in the image, but changing the image to monotone makes it likely that any cross hatching gets muddled.

Backgrounds are tedious. Good thing I'm running a comedy strip so I can use that as an excuse to not draw any. Also, feet are something I'm still working on. Also frills. Also complicated perspective. Also poses more complex than standing. Sometimes, I have difficulty drawing hands and fingers.

So yeah, I pretty much suck at art. I just tell people my bad art's part of the comic's "comedy" (the same way a programmer just lets a bug slide and then calls it a "feature").

BUT I can (or think I can) draw pretty eyes, and that's why they're my favorite part when I draw.
