I haven't been a regular part of a forum in many years; it's almost like starting over again. So I don't know if maybe my expectations are just out of whack or what, but...to be honest, I find the Tapas forum rather boring.
There ARE good things about it: for example, if you need help with a legitimate problem, your questions usually get answered at lightspeed. People even help each other find comics that they can't remember the names of, which I think is awesome. XD
But...well, the vast majority of the time, I find myself having nothing to do here. Like, most of the topics that get started are "read my comic", "review my comic", or "promote your comic"; just variants of those three topics again and again.
Promotion is cool, but I wouldn't do it every other day...and although I like reviewing, it takes me hours of effort to refine my usual vicious cruelty into a decent review that could actually help someone. ^^ And I generally don't have that kind of time.
Once in a blue moon, if I'm really lucky, I come across a topic where users can have interesting, insightful conversations for [gasp] more than 2 hours! If I'm even luckier, I end up starting such a topic~. And those times are really fun; I wish they happened more often.
I dunno...I just remember the forum I was part of before as much more lively and interesting. We made friends, had arguments, and talked about all kinds of unrelated things for months, even years on end (I go back to visit from time to time, and some of those old topics are still alive and kicking). Every user had their own reputation; it was like one big awful family. XD Maybe it was just 'cause I was a stupid kid back then, but it was great while it lasted.
