What Do You Want To Be Remembered For?

There have been so many celebrity deaths this past week, and my uncle passed as well, and it made me think. What do I want to be remembered for?

I hope that I would be remembered for doing many fantastic stories and for my characters. I would want to be remembered for being kind and funny (hopefully I am funny.)
I think I would want to be remembered for not giving up and trying even if it didn't work out.

What would you like to be remembered for?

I want to be remembered for the time I leapt from a riding lawn mower that was pulling a trailer with my Dad and brother -- my legs were too short to hit the brakes and I didn't want to crash into the shed. I was a hero that day. A hero for me.

I would like to be remembered for my stories and ideas, mostly. Everything I create is very personal and dear to my heart and I would hope that they would have an impact someday/somehow. I want to be remembered as a dedicated person, and I hope that I will be remembered as a good person.

In webcomics I want to be remembered for how I helped new creators face their fears and helped them answer their questions that would normally drop into the void.

In life I want to be remembered for breaking through the boundaries people thought were absolute, and for making life seem one bit more doable.

@kambreapratt Was your uncle someone precious to you, who you will remember with joy? Assuming so, I acknowledge your pain at his passing, but celebrate every moment he could give to you.

I'd love to be remembered for the stories I've told and the art I've created, sure, but I think I would like to be remembered most for being a good friend who doesn't give up on people. I'd like to be remembered for being kind.

And since my brother and his girlfriend are having a baby in March, I'm aiming to be remembered for being the best auntie. <3

Yeah, what a few others have said already, I could kind of care less what others remember for when i'm gone. It'll be an irrelevant issue for me when i'm gone! I'd be more happy with being remembered and appreciated for my work while i'm alive to witness it.

After you die, if anyone remembers you or not, is no longer something you will care about People remembering you, means someone is winning money of your stuff

Hah, pretty much what I wanted to say. I won't give a damn after I'm dead cuz, well, I'll be dead. It's a difficult concept to grasp, just like grasping that you didn't exist before you were born is so incomprehensible. Most things we do are to comfort ourselves. But most importantly - to live a life we won't regret.

So, even though we won't be there to care that we're being remembered, it's still worth thinking about for the sake of your goals. I'm a fairly in-the-moment person since the future terrifies me but being remembered at all would be nice lmao

Yeah, it isn't just because of my Uncle, it has been a tragic week the whole way around. Losing so many well known people. A lot of them had some influence on our lives.

Oh, the context was after you're gone? I hadn't even thought about that! Besides the three mentions above, is there anyone else who doesn't think about being gone much, but has positive reasons for not thinking about it? We can't be the only five!

Caring about the future past your death isn't like, a logical fallacy. It's an application of object permanence, tied to aspirations toward things like humanity, society, and progeny.

I wanna be remembered as the Pioneer of Space Graves. That's where they just shoot your body out of orbit so my body can just roam the cosmos for all eternity... or until I fall into a black hole, burn up in a star, get smashed by an asteroid, crash land on some planet, or get caught up in a supernova.

While I would like to go off on anyone saying that they won't care since they'll be dead, I'll simply say that even though you might be gone, there will be others still alive that would still remember.

As for me, I hope to be remembered as the man who tried. Even though I almost never succeed, I still try my darndest until the breaking point. Even if it leads to nothing, I hope to leave a mark on this world through example, much like Bill Watterson or Gary Larson.
