What gender are most of your readers?

The title of the topic says it all.
I noticed that most of my audience is composed by male readers which, to me, it's kinda odd because my comic is very "girly" in many ways and treats girls problems.
Generally I noticed that this statement is also true for my general IG art account.

What about you? Does your story attract more male or female readers? Or there's a fair share of both?

How do you know that? I don't think any of the sites I upload to provides such statistics... And I don't really want to assume people's gender based off of their avatars '^^

And are you really surprised that you've got mostly male audience? Your series banner suggests to me that it's straight guys who you're targeting

I’ve never really looked into what sex or gender my readers are.

They’re probably mostly humans though.

I write stories on adult novel pages and I have a mixed audience from what I can judge

I don't have many readers, so it's easy for me to track but many readers are also creators and in their comics or their profile is often indicated their gender.
But you're right.

IG is more helpful in this regard, since it provides the possibility to visualise this data.

I think it's an important question because, when you create an entertainment product - like a comic- you should have a target in mind. Who's your story for? Young readers? Old readers? Male or female readers? Should I put "X" happening in the plot or would it alienate my audience?

My characters, it's true, are very bold but my story has the point of view of a woman. Sometimes I think that I targeted it in the wrong way, that's why I'm curious of other people's experience

I wish i could know my comic's demographics, but there's no easy way in to know my readers' genders.

I never really checked but I guess I sort of thought my audience was mixed. Tho, my BL comics are probably mostly female readers because a lot of female readers seek out that content.

I am not going to lie... That'd actually be a cool feature on Tapas. Especially since it could help me with marketing since I plan on branching out with my stuff.

From my interactions, it seems like an equal amount of dudes and chicks read my comic? As well as people who prefer to use different pronouns.

I'm thankful that my humor manages to resonate with more people than expected (specifically the female demographic). There's times where I'm like "is this a little too far?" but then I get compliments saying they can't stop busting up.

I will say, it's cool that guys are reading a comic with this artstyle. Like... Quincy doesn't come until episode 15... and even then he gets put out of commission for another 15 episodes or something. I never really stated it was a satire in my description. Like yeah stick figures being used for the majority, but the anime art in between is your typical romance style.

Then again, I am getting away with showing episodes with stick figures and people are loving it. So it could really be just the stick figures lol.

I’m pretty sure most of my audience is male. And I base that off of the fact that most male comic readers tend to like action stories more than female readers. Shout out to my female readers who also comment on my stories as well .

Most of my readers seem to be human, though, in spite of the fact my story is clearly about elves. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Yeah I’m not sure which most of my readers are. I’d say it’s a mix of all genders. But because I’m a female writer I think most of my audience could possibly be female too but that’s just me. I’m happy to have a lot of different kinds of people reading my stories.

Unfortunately, with the statistics Tapas provides, it's hard to guess accurately what the majority of your readers identify as. That said, my novel is a BL novel, which tends to draw a lot of readers from a primarily female audience. However, the active subscribers who leave comments, likes, etc vary wildly in their genders. From male to female to non-binary, I get them all from what I can judge. (The only reason I know this is because some are acquaintances and because some put their pronouns in their bio or make their gender otherwise known with their profile picture.)

I am pretty sure that most of my readers are female. Hardly anyone actually reads it, and the few who do, most of them are fellow creators on the site. Some of these people I even chat with a bit and I have some general idea who they are. I'm gonna take a guess that the skew towards female readers for my comic has nothing to do with the genre, subject matter or anything like that, but is simply a due to there being more female creators in this community.

My comics aren't really "spicy" or "erotic", maybe some readers might be let down by that aspect of my work.

Tho for the most part, I don't write just for BL readers or just gay people. I think my work can be enjoyed by anyone.
