So Frostpeak West came from the story being set in a place that is going to be shown as snowy/cold later on in the story. Places that tend to be snowy most of the year will have frost on the peaks of the mountains even in the summer.
This name was coined back when I was a teen and I have this old animation where the ad on the side of a bus says "Bank Frostpeak".

West was added because America has this weird habit of just adding the word West to things even if there is no East, North, or South version. And when I was super young (early elementary) I would daydream about this fantasy place which I called West W.

Yoooo it totally works! Commune just feels like it has an underlying malevolence in it from your typography choice to the color scheme, shoot the word itself feels like a place where there is no space for individuality and that alone makes me itch, but like from a design standpoint that's pretty dang cool.

I'm pretty straightforward with naming stuff since I don't wanna agonize over doing it for too long. The Magic in MagicalMashup! comes from the story featuring mages who do magic being the thing the cast has in common with each other and the Mashup from how the cast features opposites made to work with each other. I mushed it all together to visualize proximity even more and the exclamation point was added to show this story has more levity than seriousness.

I realize I'm also talking bout the comic brand and not just the title, but yeah haha :purple_heart:

Realmwalker comes from Gunhild's old role as a being who could walk between worlds

Ah, I love threads like this !

JUDAS SIGHED is many things, but most importantly to me - it implies that even Judas Iscariot would pity the protagonist. I wanted the title to evoke deep regret and disappointment. On another level, it's meant to pair with the phrase "Jesus wept."

The tree on the cover of the comic is meant to be a Judas Tree1. Myth claims that once Iscariot used the tree to end his life, the flowers turned from white to red/pink. It felt right to use the tree to hang a swing from - tree swings feel like such major symbols of childhood (more specifically, carefree life) that it kind of sums up what the conflict is.

One of my hopes in choosing the title was putting as much of the story on the tin as possible. I didn't want people to pick it up thinking that it would be some fun fantasy romp. Judas Iscariot is a pretty huge character (so to speak) in the Western consciousness, so I felt safe using his name in the title. The names Jude and Judas still have some pretty wicked stigma where I'm from, almost crossing into shorthand for a traitor.

No Steel.

My comic is based on a video game. In that game you need steel to create bionics. My protagonist is genetically modified to replace the need for bionics.

It's also the name of the project, to create enhanced bones muscles and nerves to compete with regular bionics. So, no steel involved.

It's just the name of the dojo the characters join and are a part of throughout the story: The Black Belt Society. The story has multiple main characters so it didn't seem right to name it after a particular person. And to be honest it was hard landing on the name anyway, I made it up super early in the comic's development and I didn't have anything. But it worked out.

The hero of the story is called Fresh. The heroine, Frisk, is going through a rough patch in her life, and needs a friend desperately. Right when she needs him most, Fresh comes crashing into her life.

I think I've figured out by this point "a fresh person" means a person who doesn't give heads or tails about the rules.

I like video games and I like punk rock, so I made a comic about punks that play games and I titled it Game Punks. Hopefully the irony isn't lost on the readers.

Originally, I came up with my title, "Lucky Charm" because of the lucky charm pendant that brought the two MCs get together... Yeah, not that great of reason xDD

But as the story's progressed, now the meaning's completely changed for me. I view the MCs as being a "lucky charm" for each other, where they feel 'lucky' to have found the right person to be with (regardless of what others tell them/ obstacles they'll have to face).

Little Ball of Hate is just a play on one of the main characters names, Baul. It was a way to put the title character in the title and putting a little bit of her personality too. While not being completely on the nose with her name.

I initially wanted something that came across as a simple gag comic. "That Stick Figure Isekai". Like "lol random". Originally my story was going to be called "That Time I Was Reincarnated as a Stick Figure" but I was like "Ain't nobody got time to type all that". If I'm being honest I think it came from laziness? Although I can't recall.

Now I'm glad a story like this can be broad because I can rebrand it or make it about any genre I want.

It was going to have a sitcom feel to it:

But we decided something that shows the artstyle and text to alludes to an "adventurous" feeling. Like "don't worry, the fantasy elements are still there".

Also we're aware of what the original logo looked like:

Zadie is titular Shadowborn. I thought about a more complicated title but, sometimes simplicity is better.

So. I am exactly like you and need to have like a huge process for picking the title of my novels. Each one has like huge meaning or a story behind it. For my series I went with Tie Him To Me. Because it is about a guy who Has five strings of fate tied around his ankle.
And all the rest of my series titles have something to do with the story. Like If It's Your Touch is about a guy who can't touch people because of a past phobia that makes human touch cause him to have physical signs of duress like hives trouble breathing and stuff like that. But then he meets someone he can actually touch and it changes his life.

I named it Uncanny Valley because -

Uncanny - strange or mysterious, especially in an unsettling way.

That's supposed to be what I'm going for. I used the word Valley because when I think of 50's gun movies where they shoot each other in an open space, I think of the word Valley - and it's supposed to have the 50's aesthetic....🤣

The Commune sounds interesting, and you're right ominous, but also a sense of togetherness (community-ish vibe) which make one feel welcomed, which is also cool since its you said its a cult, probably trying to look warm on the surface. And yep it is easy to remember.

For my comic, I'm ̶n̶o̶t̶ A Sick Boy!
The story is about handful of people who (1) display unusual powers and (2) are asymptomatic carriers of a virus that mutates other humans into horrid monsters. It quickly spreads into an outbreak. (think social distancing but ppl instantly turn into zombie-like creatures upon physical contact).
The name works in multiple ways as these individuals display no viral symptoms, unlike the people they infect so the "Not" represents that.
The authorities also label these people Sick Boys as the majority appear to be male.
Female 'Sick Boys' would probably say they are 'not' sick boys either. Not revealed yet but Sick Girls only display powers and are not carriers of the virus (making them easily blend with society, they are definitely 'not sick boys')
Sick Boy also has derogatory context:
The story follows two brothers Owen and Evan who become 'sick boys' After a strange Hum is heard one night. Evan is rumored to be a rent boy.
Dark psychological context: which reflects some of the antagonistic 'Sick Boys' that appear (guy in 1st chapter is a malicious 'Sick Boy' who takes pleasure infecting people).
The strike through also cancels the 'Not' which can be interpreted as "I'm a Sick Boy" to reflect the darker themes and characters, maybe sarcastic too. Similar to you I was aiming for simple words.
Those were my interpretations but curious to see what unique interpretations readers come up with as the chapters progress.

The reason why my comic is called Broken is because it is based on questioning ourselves about the concept of balance, what is the perfect balance? Is it something imposed? is something defined? Are there limits to that balance between good and evil? What happens when the limits of something that is pre-established are BROKEN to the point of destabilizing that balance? so hence the name.

For a long time I had a character that's kind of stuck with me, never named them. I tried writing several stories for this character but never stuck to a name for them nor did any of the stories stick the vibe I wanted.

Then one morning I kind of just woke up and redesigned the character and named her Nina, of course when I wrote the story down I didn't name the series yet it since I wanted to get a grasp of the theme first. A year later I decided I will call the story Nina since it is about her and using phrases wasn't a thing I was sure I'd like. No thoughts were put into her name, the title of the story has no special meaning, at least not to the reader I don't think. I just thought Nina sounded beautiful, when I hear the name I hear a melody of sorrows and happiness.

My story is about friendships and enemies, trust and betrayal, lost and found. Nina gets to discovers herself on a world full of incredibly cute animals! Of course, happiness never lasts so enjoy it while it lasts.
