Coon, congratulations! You...just won this thread! Hahaha.
@hushicho Same with my comic Life of an Aspie. I didn't see Asperger's Syndrome being brought up much in the media if at all especially in anime/manga. Plus, of the manga I've read, I also didn't see any that both respect, but also rightfully critique Japan and its societal aspects when appropriate. In other words, a non EVERYTHING IS AWESOME IN JAPAN weeabo approach. From my understanding of Japanese society and how it relates to autism, they know it exists, but they aren't on the same level of support and awareness that America is last I checked. Having always wanted to make a shoujo manga (yes, I'm a guy in case anybody was wondering), giving the main protagonist a condition I have in real life was one of those things that just made sense the more I wrote potential conversations between Susan and the other cast members.
@joannekwan Ahh...that's how it starts doesn't it? Think of the fun conversations then put them into proper context. Next thing you know, you've got a story that you can't keep trapped within the confines of your brain.
@Michelle Agreed. You use it or you lose it. I'm glad I chose to get all my thoughts about Life of an Aspie out of my head and onto digital paper.
Anyway, to answer OP's question, I'm mainly doing LoaA so I can say that I made something you know? Plus, all the nice feedback I've gotten and all the value I've created in the form of laughs, happy comments from people who can relate to Susan's character in some way, or just breaking a new view count record like I did last month when I busted the 1,000 view ceiling for the first time, that is the stuff I wouldn't trade for anything
