@Kelheor thanks! Like...I do some research, but it's all basic stuff like anatomy, or looking up armor and weapons, and architecture. Then I just guess the rest of the way and slap my filter on it.
I do have artists I admire, but...they don't make the same style I do. I've watched a lot of action cartoons and movies growing up, so there's a big library in my cobweb covered attic I call a brain. But I can't point to one single influence, there's just too many. I'm one of those people that when asked why I like something, my answer is usually "I dunno. Just do."
My visual influences include, in no particular order: CLAMP, Gustav Dore and other woodcut artists, Final Fantasy artists Yoshida Akihiko and Yoshitaka Amano, Sui Ishida, Jamie Hewlett, and Fullmetal Alchemist creator, Hiromu Arakawa, as well as JJBA creator Hirohiko Araki.
Over the past several months, I've been getting into watercolor art like crazy. I've been looking up stuff for song covers, wallpapers, character and concept art.. Sui Ishida's watercolor art especially is just
I always had a bit of a love for heavily detailed high contrast black and white art, so manga backgrounds are always fascinating to look at for me. It's not just manga stuff though, just any scenery in general sketched in such a way is definitely up my alley
So, yeah, if anybody goes off and mixes both of these aesthetic styles, bam, I love their art by default lol
Uff, this is gonna be hard XD.Right now for my drawing style I’m in love with these two. The first one would be the perfect balance between stylizing and realism and the second for the color palette and sketchy feeling to it.
And then for the whole aestetic sake I LOVE Arabian nights/desertish inspired fantasy worlds, both in clothes and backgrounds.
And I’ve got so say that I’m pretty interested in Victorian gothic. I might explore it in another comic someday way down the line.
A kindred soul in everything, fantastic but who's the artist for the first art with beard guy? because I loooove it! Oh, he's from the school of the Wolf, double nice
Oh sure! This is their instragram account. Their style is just so awesome!!
Honestly, I just really like cyberpunk and gothic victorian clothing and architecture. The see-through plastic ponchos and neon signs and just... I love technology and stuff, and the idea of being covered in it just seems really enticing for some reason. And gothic victorian stuff, the hoods, the bows, and long dresses and the feathers and fur, the tall towers, the overwhelming cathedrals, and the decrepit apartment buildings and the dark streets that smell like death...And I like stuff with too much gold...
Eh, my dumb weeb #ss loves historical Japanese-style architecture.
Like, look at this stuff! I love this! I want to live here! I want to burst through the paper-thin walls in a set of samurai armor, or sneak along the rooftops in a navy-blue Shinobi Shozoku. The unique architecture handily differentiates itself from the brick and mortar monotony of my own city, and is also super fun to design action scenes around.
Oh, also: Cherry Blossoms.
Ahh personally, I'm a sucker for just a nice black and white sketch. I really admire the draftsmanship.Usually, the subjects seems to just be (attractive) people and plants. Kind of like a vintage-y feel.
Oof ok so my art folder has way too much so here are just a few examplesIvan Shishkin
And if there is color, its pretty subdued with a lot of texture (think Tarkovsky).
Probably something akin to Sargent with a few dashes of de kooning:
I have that exact same cottage screenshot on my computer right now, and for the manga it came from it is certainly a very well drawn piece.
It not mean going without comforts or luxuries. For me, minimalism mean cutting out as much bullshit as possible. Less maintenance, less stress. And fewer things to carry when you need to move.
Like, most everything me own is pre-packed in plastic boxes. It not quite living out of a suitcase but it probably take just a few minutes to throw everything in a car.
Got it =)
This especially, hehe.
Alright so...after some thinking and searching of my rusty brain. I believe I've got what kind of aesthetic I'm shooting for xD
Regular Show x Dino Riders x TMNT (classic) x 80s Skateboard Magazines.
OMG, Dino riders! I have no idea what is this, but I'd be such a fan if I saw this in a childhood xD
Ahh nice! I'll have to check out the manga sometime- I'm a MHA anime watcher only so far
It was a toy line from the 80s that got the TV show, novelization, and comic book treatment xD basically yet another attempt to cash out on GI Joe and Transformers.
Think GI Joe meets He-Man but with Dinosaurs xD it's cheesy as hell and I loved every second of it. "Harness the Power of Dinosaurs" what a great catch phrase...The toys all had some sort of rocket function that shot plastic lasers.Oh. And the main character rode on a raptor about 30 years before Jurrassic World ever did. But their raptor had L A S E R S
T-rex figure am also the model for Rex in Toy Story.
Cousin had one, so me always knew.
That I didn't know! If I remember right...the characters in Dino Riders referred to the T-Rex and other carnivores as "Sharp Teeth." Hmmm... where've I heard that before
I was too young to watch the show on TV. But in the late 90s, a family friend gave us a bunch of VHS tapes that had been taped from tv programs from that time period. It just so happened to have 2-3 episodes on it.
and now I've derailed the thread XD my bad!
