What is your ultimate aesthetic?

Hello, my name is Kelheor and I love being inspired Looking at the pictures on the internet is one of my main hobbies - photos of nature, clothes, architecture, jewelry, I'm here for all of this.

I love many things, like traditional Japanese clothing, art nouveau, gothic horror... But I guess most of all I love mythology and fantasy, magic and magical creatures. My ultimate aesthetic is Tolkien's elves (you know them, the ones who woke under the stars, made jewelry, killed their kin and all that).

Cyberpunk

Particularly, visual cyberpunk-ish style of Tron: legacy.

Needless to say, that "scientific" part of this sci-fi is very weak, however, visual part provides the best cyberpunk aesthetics I've ever seen. It's quintessence of cyberpunk style of some sort.

I would say I like a little bit of fusion. A little bit of scifi elements in a otherwise modernized setting. Same with nature. Where the city is modernized on a foundational level but riddled with elements of gardens.

I guess I like being grounded in reality with the surrealism enhancing the environment.

Really, never thought of this too, just kinda woke up yesterday with this idea and it took me a bit of time to think of it This sounds great though! Like a hopeful green future ^^ Thinking about tall glassy buildings with gardens descending from them.

Definitely the hopeful aspect. I've personally felt a disconnect and exclusion from the pure ideal aesthetics (especially with cyber), but the idea of being graced with hopeful elements of purity appeals to me.

The fantasy aesthetics you referenced definitely shape what I see in Hexameron.

Rococo and art noveau mostly ;oc!! the details man....also honorable mention to Gustav Klimt's golden period...Not really what I'll call the ultimate but these strongly influenced my works after 2016 //

As an artist, I would not say I have an ultimate aesthetic. I'm naturally someone who's eclectic and like to experiment, so, if I had (hopefully, when I will have) enough skills, I would go for a new aesthetic for each project, mixes of aesthetics, trying new combinations etc.

For myself.. my favorite artist is Gustave Moreau
I like the detailed/delicate decadent aesthetic in general.

Minimalist in real life. Cutting things down to the essentials means getting the experience in its purest form. Me also like low-maintenance things.

Maybe Art Nouveau

Soft colors, geometric layouts, embracing nature, some what mystic quality about it, and a mix of Eastern and Western art styles.

I feel like I have another side which likes soft pastel, so overly cutesy stuff that it makes other people ill

High fantasy(not exactly medieval) and stylized, with a LOT of color. It's not the only one I like or work with, but it's what I strive for.

I think if I could figure out what my 'ultimate aesthetic' was, I could maybe improve my art and figure out how to determine my own art style. But I'm pulled in so many directions, and just don't know

Film Noir and the Retro Noir that blends in Art Deco...

Ah, I see what you're talking about. But I believe you need to try many styles for this to happen (or at least, try some bits of them) =) I mean, I love many different things and 90% of them actually have nothing to do with what or how I draw. I have a special folder on my PC, called "Draw like..." and there's something like 6000 artworks from different artists there. Some I love more, some less, but I learn something (or try, at least) from each of those ^^
Once you put all of them together you will probably notice some repetition in styles or colouring, you will see how you can combine different things, choose those and try to do something by yourself It doesn't mean this will be what you need, but you have to try more

@vothnthorvaldson oh, now I see whose style Yoshitaka Amano's art kinda reminds me of, it's Moreau! This art is definitely awakening something dark deep in the heart.

@NickRowler art nouveau is love! Japan always had my heart with its cute things, everything sakura, even the food is cute like strawberry daifuku hehe ^^
