I use to jump from miserable retail job to miserable retail job, but my partner convince me to focus on what I want to do with my life (even if I feel like a leech!).

Soooo now I'm a freelance illustrator, character designer, and voice over actor! Getting a steady stream of commissions and was just hired to narrate my first audiobook, so I'm pretty excited!

I'm a hostess at a Friendly's and I also do yard work odd jobs.

$9.70 an hour (Potentially $10.00 in a week or two) and $10.00 - $50.00 per hours for yard work/shoveling snow.

Reading this thread really cheered me up. It's all too easy to despair about humanity and the many dark corners of existence, but there's so much creativity and hope too! So many voices here attest to our striving collectively towards... meaningful and positive translations of thought into communication.

Maybe I'm getting carried away, but it makes me happy to imagine all the people who posted here going about their daily lives thinking about their comics and projects, then coming home and making art. Even when it's tough.

Happy outpouring continues

As the age of automation speeds up things are going to drastically change, and I hope that humanity can support one another in pursuing art, philosophy, happiness and well-being (rather than destroying ourselves and everything else).

Art should be accessible! The fact that we're all here, making stuff, sharing our experiences, in this medium - it's amazing! The internet and platforms like Tapastic are making it possible, and I'm so glad that I'm alive to see it.

Wow, that turned out a little longer than I intended and I didn't even answer the question!

I'm a software tester. c:

Started making comics while I was studying Computer Science at University. After graduation I got a job as a web designer at a small start-up. It only takes one ego-crazed-maniac to make that kinda small-scale place too weird/stress though! I quit. Temped at various places and ended up part-time at a charity, comics on the side. It turned out to be a spirit-crushing harpies nest that no amount of positive thinking and determination was going to fix. Shudder. Dark time in my life. Now I work for a really wonderful software company - so grateful to have found a safe haven! I haven't entiiiirely stopped making comics, but they're not at the forefront at the moment.

Yes, with this "job" I really often need money. Sometimes I play Playojo casino1, it gives to me some money, but I am newbie at this, so it is possible that I will find second job.

I get paid to draw/paint and design things mixture of publications to custom artwork  the comic side is just something I wanted to get off the ground!

Currently I work as a Quality Assurance Tester for Video Games :smile_cat: But my comic Cat Tales is defenitly something I want to get off the ground as a little side gig. Dream big!

I have a part time bartending job... My managers are very poorly organised but I enjoy it anyway because I love making drinks. I develop my own cocktails and everything.

I also make money on the side by making YouTube videos, and selling assets / lineart.

Still, I'm having a hard time becoming financially independent because my city's job market is the WORST. I'm padding my CV out with all sorts of impressive projects but nobody gets back to me. I guess that's just what it's like in England right now... No housing and no jobs. Life is tough here at the moment.

I have dreams of getting into drag, though. It's a bit of a weird dream, but I would love to get a drag gig at one of my local places some day.

im a theatre technician! kinda a trainee, but ive been paid to do it so it counts. i mainly do followspotting, floor crew, and flying, but i really really wanna go into prop making and lighting design. still figuring out how to get there...

i also do spoken word poetry, which brings in more work than youd expect. i think im just gathering artsy and impractical jobs w sporadic work and hoping they accumulate into an income hehe

I work at a call center. My job is to troubleshoot peoples internet and phone problems. Not a lot of fun and not enough time to do things between calls.

I've always been fascinated by storytelling, so something like an illustrator, author, filmmaker, storyboard artist, animator, etc.

I work as a marketing specialist for a fortune 200 company full time and pursuing my masters part time

I got into programming after I realized I didn't like doing art as a job. Now I've been a software engineer for a few years now and it's pretty awesome, but I do wish I had more time to draw comics

I'm a self employed pharmacist in the UK. I fill in for other pharmacists when they're on holiday/vacation - it's a really flexible schedule that lets me get plenty of webcomic time in (but still long hours lol :sob:)

I'm a great fan of gambling! And I work as casino dealer in real casino in Vegas or in online casino http://onlineslotsx.com/1. I totally adore that special type of fun which it gives to me so in my case it became a hobby a long time ago. I even think sometimes that I could be considered as a heavy player but in my case it's mostly that time which I spend to various games, not money because I always control my separate budget for this hobby Yeah, I know my limits and I try not to concentrate too much on money I can win, for me general process of playing is much more pleasant, I think that it's a common thing for many players, maybe that's why it's so easy to become addictive in this case like in case of other types of games too.

I'm a student going into college working on getting into animation for movies/tv shows. I am really excited to start. It's kind of boring to graduate early.

I'm an animation major college student currently doing an offsite work study at a rabbit shelter. When I graduate I'd love to get into either Tv or game animation as a vis dev artist
