I don't think there's such thing as a peaceful time period. We tend to be biased towards the era when we were kids 'cause most of us didn't have to worry about what was truly scary and serious.

In the late 90s and 00s, I watched cartoons, collected dolls, and played with the neighbor kids, of course it'll seem like the best days. As we get older, we become more aware of how screwed up the world is.

People say the same thing about the 50s, 80s, etc and they'll do it again for the 10s and so on.

...To clarify, I don't think you're an AI bot. Even if your words and topic ideas were created by Chat GPT or something, I think there is some sort of human behind it. I think you're somebody posting to create interactions and answers, but I'm not certain as to why. Whether it's to feed the content created into an AI bot, to build up the appearance of being human for some kind of later scheme, or you're just reposting the best bits to a corporate blog somewhere... I don't know. Personally I think the internet really messed us up. Sure, it can provide an endless wealth or information, but it's also given use the gift of anonymity. Which is a mixed blessing given it's allowed people to be the worst creatures imaginable, but it's good in that it's hard (With a good VPN.)

Yeah in a way this sucks, but when I first got on the internets(circa 1999) you HAD TO swim in anonymity, coz folks would try to dox the hell out of you...somewhere along the line people STOPPED being anonymous, which is why all these consumer/marketing machines are always trying to sell you shit 24/7/365. I hate it...I cant even have a normal conversation or research material without G**gle listening or following my info and trying to bombard me with ads suggesting or trying to sell me something.

As for the 90s being great? Other than perhaps music, I spent my entire young to mid adulthood in the 90s- there was NOTHING glorious about it to me.

I wonder if part of this is personal perspective. Like I was a young child in the 90s, I had horrible things happen during that time which I would not want a child now a days to deal with. I don’t think they were directly caused by the era, it’s just sometimes bad things can happen and no amount of “nice” tv shows can fix that.

You can still watch 90s shows today, maybe made even easier with the internet. Heck I watched some 60s animated shows, it’s cool that people can still enjoy them 60+ years later. But you can’t really get a do over with your childhood.

Pff I was more meaning how zoosadists and people distributing CP have an easier time getting away with it due to anonymity, but we also have the tools to not let messed up groups or individuals find us and our loved ones in case we get targeted. (Although most people aren't educated on those tools, how to use them, or how to just not share their PI online.) Not so much mega corps paying apps/sites to infringe on our rights to force their products in our faces, although I also hate that, as well as the constant monitoring from our phones. Unless you only use a pay as you go phone, and basic internet from a desktop with no webcam, there is literally no privacy.

Uh, I guess the 90's brought us some fun movies and shows that would be considered problematic today.

To me it seems that you're stuck in time, not only considering how sheltered in point of view some of your post are, but you also mentioned how religious your family is, so.... sounds to me that people are friendly, just that you got stiff and have a harder time adapting to current society and its times.

I of course enjoyed my childhood as a 2000 kid, but tbh it was a pretty fucked up time that no one in my family ever wants to go back to, since it was during the Argentinian economic crisis of 2001

It sounds like your talking about media for the most part- which yes sorry not sorry but most late 90s early 2000s media IS better then the shit we get today, so many zoomers going back to watch old Ed Edd and Eddy shows, dexters lab, teen titans, KND. Now that's all true and good I think the major thing you and a lot of people in this thread realizes is that TIME IS A FLAT CIRCLE and no I'm not memeing. Time is just a constantly moving object that will never stop and never give in. The 90s and 80s where pretty decent for media and as such a lot of people look on the fondly even if things happening in the 90s and 80s weren't GREAT people of the time had nice outlets to get away from the real world. There's a lot of small things like suicide rates in teens being the lowest in US history in the 2000s because shit was simple and things where "just progressive enough" that no one was stressing more then they need to- but this is just a majority meaning there's plenty of 2000s kids who will tell you the 2000s was awful.

I hear a lot that the 50s was good and I'm willing to believe it if only because the 20s was chaos incarnate which would prob leave a lot of people looking fondly at the 50s if they had to put up with the 20s

But also this is only an amarican outlook- and even then.... Again time is a flat circle- the good times can't last forever just like the bad times come and go. You will never experience you childhood again BUT you're childhood self wouldnt be as happy as your adult self as you get married to your sweetheart. Time moves, time flows.
