Those creators were in the wrong. They were just jerks. This is not how most creators react to getting fanart. Unless your fanart is weirdly explicit in some way and makes the creator feel reasonably uncomfortable in any way, then yes -- reevaluate your art.
But in your case -- no. There was nothing you did wrong. It wasn't like that. Those creators were assholes.
Please, for your own mental health, you need to take the steps you need to not hold onto these past events. The actions of someone else is not on your head, and you need to take time to realize that.

I feel you keep holding this in for the wrong reason and keep bringing it up because you haven't let it go. You've made similar threads about this in the past, and the same thing has happened -- people told you weren't in the wrong. This has been generally agreed on, and people sympathized with you (sympathy you called "needless pity", might I add).
Not telling you to "get over it", but I am telling you it's unhealthy to hold onto these events.
