What time period (s) do you enjoy dressing your characters up for?

My comic series is set in a futuristic space-like setting, so sending my characters back to times like the old west always brings me joy!

Do you have any eras that you like to dress your characters up for?

My comic is set up in 2013, so they use the current fashion.
I would be fun to dress them with their typical national outfit (Noah is Swiss, Anna is German and Marika from Poland) or from other countries.

Oh that could be lots of fun! The difference in clothing from culture to culture is inspiring. Fashion in general really.

That's a great choice! Do you ever draw them outside the story's setting? Maybe at a botanical garden underwater or something like that?

I don't draw them since I am a writer but I design them. I do however like to pay my artist to place them with clothes like cozzy sweaters and pijama for xmas and other holidays. Basically, clothes from today.

I feel like seeing your characters in a different setting has its charm.

P.S. I do draw poses in an uggly way but hey better than nothing lol. Helps the artists visualize the idea. I'm not bad at drawing but it doesn't have the quality I am looking for.

The 1800s and the 1960s, 70s and 80s. I freaking love 70s hair.

Late 19th to early 20th century, definitely. Once I’m done with my current comic, the next one will be set in a place where I can do as many 1890s sleeves and 1900s hats as I want lol

Mid 2000s, so a lot of spiky hair and double layer tees. I also like 70s, I admit to using turtlenecks and sideburns a bit too often.

I'm not all that good at drawing yet but I enjoy designing my characters in traditional Japanese outfits or modern variations of it.

Can't really name particular era, but I guess it's mostly modern (90's-today) and vague medieval fantasy?

I suppose I mostly love is to create a particular style for a story or just some characters in a particular setting so I can have fun with dressing them while still more or less remaining in canon

Love cowboys and 20s detectives/mafia aesthetics. But I haven't actually made a story set in either of those, I either go with high scifi, high fantasy or present day with fantasy/paranormal elements with my aesthetics. But all these will come with the obligatory cowboy and mafia AUs.

Ancient East Indian, Ancient Greek and Colonial Pirates are faves

The current comic series set in modern day so modern clothes
But the story's fictional island has Colonial British Pirates/ Soldiers attached to their history and Independence Day celebrations. So its a tradition to wear decorative Tricorn hats on that day.

Modern, because nothing beats the convenience of dressing them in a plain T-shirt or hoodie.

As the series' setting is fictional, sometimes the characters wear traditional and/or period clothing. Which also looks different than IRL.

You must have predicted how weird it is to have that and T-shirt+hoodie side-by-side.

Sometimes I draw them in RL "historical" clothes for "fun."

These are great! I've personally been dabbling in 70s aesthetic as well. Moreso with a Bond sort of feel to it, but retro all the same. Def agree on the hairstyles!

2000s was one hell of a time! Final Fantasy is a huge love of mine and I def have a soft spot for it's take on 2000s aesthetics. The spiky hair is timeless.
