What to do with 'useless' chapters you still like?

Hi!
So I finally started publishing my story, and I'm almost done sharing 'part 1.' after This part, there are quite a few fluffy chapters that I've written, that bring nothing to the plot but I still like.

For such 'filler' content, is it a better idea to have a little side novella? Or clarify that they're filler chapters in the episode title in the main novel?

I'd probably post them after you finish the main story, with a note saying where it took place chronologically That way you don't ruin the flow :]

I agree with @TheLemmaLlama that putting them at the end is a good idea ^^ I'd also say if it's like fluff or some slice of life for a more actionny comic or like bonus little tid bits of your character's life it's the type of stuff that's good to put on a patreon or a Kofi as a perk because the people who'll want to see it will be the ones who are most invested in your characters and world and want to support you making it, so it can be like a little present to them.

That way it's available for those who want to know more about less plot-relevant details but not slowing down the pace for those who want the main story.

you could use them just to show more depth and story of the characters, most filling episodes work to show progress and growth in the character's arc

I've never really considered making a patreon - I have a horrible case of imposter syndrome where I don't believe anyone will actually go visit it, oops. Maybe that's a habit I should break out of? I do have a KoFi, but again with no 'patreon-like' anything. I'm not opposed to trying though! Thanks!

Interesting question & answers, esp since I have tidbits like that, too. Adding on as a sort of supplement sounds like fun. Sort of like "Scenes From the Cutting Room Floor" of a movie.

I do agree! It's just he's already the character with the most chapters and I don't want it to become too much, you know?

You can turn them into a short story novella. Name the chapter headings for that chapter. You can also lost it on Patreon as premium filler content.

I'd say if a chapter doesn't advance the plot but builds the characters/world in a way that's relevant to the main theme of the story, it actually counts as contributing to the plot Otherwise if the scenes build character but in a way that's completely irrelevant to the character's arc, I'd say it's still better relegated to side content (or a sequel that expands further on that aspect of the character) - for the same reason you wouldn't include every aspect of your worldbuilding that isn't relevant to the plot

Like I have a character in my comic that I ended up writing a lot about, but including those scenes in the comic, even if they most certainly build character, would weaken the overall story imo. bitwam is just not the right story for those scenes. And that's why I'm planning to make a sequel centering this character, because those scenes ended up implying a whole 'nother character arc which is better off standing on its own rather than clashing with the main arc of bitwam XD
