What was the inspiration behind your comic?

Those Called Wolf was inspired by the fantasy of Lord of the Rings and the art style of Yu-Gi-Oh!

Go ahead and laugh, I know I do when I think back on my adolescent years! For the first few years I hand drew my comic on notebook paper, and yes, all my characters had freakishly large heads with strange parallelogram eyes. The world was set in a Tolkien universe with the beauty of Medieval culture and ever expanding landscapes. And (I can't believe I'm telling you all this) the very first version of my main character, Viper, was inspired by my confusion at how Legolas, the most beautiful character in Lord of the Rings, didn't have a partner at the end of the movies. Aragorn had one, obviously Legolas needed one too.

It's cringy, I know, but it just goes to show we all start somewhere. Now, my comic is nothing similar to my embarrassing beginnings. My characters no longer look like poor antagonists in Yu-Gi-Oh, I created my own universe but still kept those breathtaking landscapes, and Viper, my oh-so-lovely broken warrior, has so much more depth than was originally possible in my feeble mind.

there was a war was inspired first and foremost by irish mythology, and the reinterpretations of the stories by myself and a good friend. im also heavily influenced by the music of ben cooper / radical face, and these days also a lot of mountain goats... theres some inspiration from the musicals anastasia and the prince of egypt (and generally the moses story, love that one) and from the book the song of achilles by madeline miller

Shonen manga in general, but the one that got me involved in planning my own story was Eichiiro Oda's 'One Piece'. I'd dabbled here and there in writing random stuff in the past but it never really went anywhere and I always loved drawing.

When I started watching OP it was like a breath of fresh air - I'd never seen anything quite like it before. I loved how character focused it was (and how it frequently bought back old faces in awesome new contexts), but the main thing I took away was how each character explicitly stated their goals. I loved this approach immediately and then I set about researching things and learning all I could about storytelling!

Lots of manga/western shows inspired the writing and a whole lot of everything influences my art (seriously, if I can fit it in I will! There are a whole bunch of characters with outfits inspired by all sorts of birds later on!) There's a lot to list, but here's a preview page + link

Goblins of Razard was only started by me and my best friend Terri wrote the rest. So its kinda mixed and the story comes from both our imaginations. Terri is a huge D&D player and DM. So I think there are some strong elements there. I really love the art and scenery from Assassins Creed (especially Brotherhood), so I think you can see that influence too.

Oh boy what inspired my comic...I suppose the idea of finding someone even if that person is miles away and actually being happy. I met my boyfriend through online dating and we were lucky enough to live in the same state. I guess I also wanted to try something different and we are always in our phones or on social media or games that we miss out on important things around us. But even when you are stuck inside your own world you can still be happy. You just might miss other things as well.

The inspiration came thank to a random incident.
When i was a kid and i was playing with my cousins,for some random reason, i found a rock in my toy box. I mockingly used it as a "character", but that rock was an inanimate object inside the game.

I made "Rocky" the hero of this "story" and we laughed a lot. That incident remained in my memory for many years. I had to make a story with that concept, so i started drawing Rocky the rock. My family and friends loved it, so many years later i decided to improve the story and post it here.

And that is how it happened.

Was doodling characters back when I was 16 and for some reason one character stuck out to me and I wanted ever since then to expand upon him. The story was kind've inspired by the feeling of being forced into a world completely foreign to you by chance and never exactly fitting in despite being exactly like everyone else.

Okay, this is a story I've told before, but I never really get tired of it.
Me and my friend Christian were having a conversation on character power-levels, ala Dragon Ball Z, and I needed an example name for a wimpy wimperson character. I just threw out a name, saying "say, for example, you were fighting Low-Tier Jane..." and the concept of that name kinda derailed the conversation.
From there, I started making jokes about this so called 'Low-Tier Jane', like things like trying to say hello to a bee only to cut straight to a shot of an ambulance. Then I started drawing her a bit after designing her, then drew one strip as an experiment. From there, things just starting flowing!

For Magic Advisor I was originally inspired by a blog I have about the supernatural, magic and folklore. I was also inspired by a lot of comic cliché... Thats how I came up with the character of Prim who is a wannabe super villain. ^^;

Mine sort of happened on accident. I love rhymes, folk tales, mythology, the like. Over time I just fell in love with the idea of nursery rhyme characters becoming more than just their rhyme. Since I also really like animals, it all just culminated and became a story of its own.

My comic is mostly inspired by my daily life, i'm the kind of guy to make puns and laugh all the time and get the '' oh god stop this lame puns i wanna die" comments. Aand that keeps me going in a certain way when things get rough haha
So one day i thought why not put all these lames jokes and ideas on paper. And it has been REALLY fun. It's just a fantastic way to blow steam, and also discover other artits !

Also, i discovered that tapastic had an awesome community, and people are really engaging. So it's a fantastic way to improve your art.

most of spire's world and lore was made when i was listening to nothing but caravan palace. it kinda inspired me to go for a steampunk-ish aesthetic

but stylistically i'd have to say ava's demon is one of my biggest artistic influences with like....touches of steven universe and wander over yonder
