woof, the art on that page is awesome! Love the page composition too! As for what inspired my webcomic "Hunters: The Dark Arrivals" it was videogames like Devil May Cry and Bloodborne. However, a LOT of the series has stemmed from the things that happened in my life at the time of writing that page. You can tell that when I was angry, the pages were either more frantic or, pretty much any of the pages that have a character named 'Shadow' in them. I love answering this question :stuck_out_tongue:

Haha a loooong time - the pencils are ironically the hardest bit to get right as I'm trying lots of new poses etc so that takes a few hours. The inks aren't so bad but if there's textures and special effects as with that page it can take about 2-3 hours max.

This is why I need a buffer lol

A long time ago, my brothers and i had toys. The recession at the time had our lifestyles changed to something more affordable. I didn't mind. My stepmom went to a yard sale and bought some bathroom amenities along with a small stuffed Pikachu doll that made his signature "pikachu!" sound every time you pinched the stubs.

She gave this to my younger brother but he shared it with me. I then broke it. The doll no longer made the noise so my brother decided to use it like a puppet and made an unforgettable, annoying, yet very funny voice for it. With his mannerisms, the Pikachu took a whole new form. It was now a crazy, adventurous and loving character that my brother and I had lots of fun with.

When I entered middle school i wanted to put the doll's likeness on paper or rather in a story. I decided to make a character out of it and called it something very simple... Frank. The small green alien I'm still trying to put through my comics was all based off my brother.

The story was shifted around into a war setting but the whole point of the story is that brothers will get you through the mud and fear of the world.

This is why my goal is to get my comic turned into an animated series so people can see what I grew up with.

GodTown was inspired by alot of various things. Religion, the supernatrual and occult charmed sailormoon. wonderwoman. catwoman various things that i loved growing up and wanted to make my own.

Los esmeraldas was inspried by a bunch of anime i watched when i was younger on toonami lol. outlaw star cowboy bebop, gundam wing.

the two are polar opposites of each other check them out if you get a chance !

@Flea-Sha I don't think it's cringy. Your art is very nice too. I can see the anime influence.

@TimCaloweh

Very cute story and a lovely message too. Good luck going forward.

My inspiration came from when I was sitting in a physics class in college. I was bored to be honest and was having trouble listening to the lecture. This is going to sound silly but I created the two main characters out of the lesson on electricity. That's why their names are Cation and Anion. They actually helped me in school because their backstory and character comes from the science we had to learn in class. I later used them in a fantasy role playing group on deviantart.com but it was taken down by the admins so Cation and Anion were left unused for a while. Then my sister and I decided to bring them back and have them star in their own comic series. Some elements are similar to the old rp group but we changed it to be science fiction instead of fantasy. For example on deviantart characters used magic and it was kind of like the anime fairy tail. Now it takes place on an alien planet and the twins are not biological anymore, they're energy beings that use holograms to communicate. It's been a long time and I'm happy with the current results.

We had a RP a while back which went dead as many do, but we still had all these great characters and a solid outline. There was intrigue, drama, romance, space ship races and cosmic horror and we were so sad to see it all potentially go to waste. So we reworked a few things and shuffled a back story or two and ended up with The Constellation Chronicle.

So this is going to sound incredibly dorky, but "The Hungry lions" was inspired by a Crusader Kings II, Hundred Years War campaign. I started a child character (if I tell you which figure it would be a spoilerish thing) and it was my campaign goal to survive to adulthood. And in that time, a story formed from the gameplay. It had tragic romance, moral compromise, and shocking betrayals.

And by the end, I realised the character that resulted was really compelling. I started writing a novel, placing him in a vast fantasy universe I made. And then a few hundred pages in, I got sick of reading my own words. I was watching WebcomicRelief and realized exactly what to do. I had loved comics and wanted to draw them since I was a kid and I determined I was going to tell this character's story. So I translated it to a script format and got to work drawing. First version looked like ass, BUT it got better and better and now it is passable art.

I was actually inspired to create Ipi-chan from the cockroach anime Gokicha. It was supposed to be a one-shot, but thanks to my friends who gave me more ideas and supported me with this silly comic, I decided to give it a shot and turn it into a webcomic.

my comic, Sang Kong actually at first, inspired from Red Riding Hood story.. the main enemy is a unknown being that shaped like lil' girl wearing red hoodie coat, then the main protagonist is "evil" demon gorilla (yeah I changed the Wolf part into Gorilla). Later, I thought my self, "hmm.. I think I can do more than this", so I changed a lot of parts, takes a lot of refs from old stories, legends, fairytale, Myth, etc then re-imagined it into something new.

The main character however, from very start always inspired from young Scrooge Mc Duck and Donald Duck based on Don Rossa's works (I love his works).

Please mind my English :confounded:

I love the way your art looks. It provides so much atmosphere to this Medieval like world. I'm looking forward to more updates

There are some things in this world I never thought would look cute. But you, my friend, have now made me think cockroaches are cute. I don't know how you did it. But you did. And now I don't know if I should be amazed or grossed out. Either way, I'm looking forward to more updates!

I have a few comics, but my most favorite and cherished comic is Realm of Itria. It's a medieval fantasy comic but it's framed more as historical fiction. It's not set on earth, though.

My inspiration was my university classes and my husband-to-be. It started back in 2014 and we called it "The Story" for the longest time. We're both history buffs and would often be disappointed by what the fantasy genre has become in media. Not that there's anything wrong with using your imagination and creating something inspired by medieval aesthetic... it just seems too modern in style to us? There's lots of aspects of the middle ages that were awesome and interesting. We just wanted to bring back social systems like serfs, fiefdoms, feudalism and vassalship. We wanted to incorporate it organically into a series with knight armor that's more closely historical than what popular culture dictates as "medieval". Which is super vague and mostly rooted in what the 19th century romanticized and perceived of the middle ages/renaissance.

We also were BOTH tired of no strong female lead characters. We wanted neither a damsel in distress, nor a "I'm a girl so I'm overcompensating by being mean" character who's way too on the nose. We created a classically trained, strong Dame who is the focus of this story. We also wanted an ethnic lead. She's rooted in independence, leadership, fearlessness, loyalty and good. She's strong both inherently and physically. Her identity isn't based on a male. (If anything one of my male characters revolves around her more, but that's his personality and obsession.)

Then we wanted an outlet to explore moral ambiguity, ethics, philosophy and religion. We wanted to make something that conflicted the reader and charged them emotionally. We also LOVE making up societies, politics, religions and cultures in general for this story. So Realm of Itria's world was born and our combined interest in historical literature, politics, sociology, religion and a bit of anecdotal evidence has driven us to make something that we could be proud of, that we could lace our knowledge into and make little jokes and statements through our characters and settings.

So really, my fiance and I wanted a realm where we could explore aspects of things we learned as young adults to express ourselves in a creative way, represent the middle ages and have fun. As for our readers, we want to entertain them. It's not ALL heavy subject matter, it's actually a lot of jokes. We were inspired by what we learned to make a world to get lost in. We want you to feel like these characters are your friends you can come back to... and who knows who you'll champion? Realm of Itria has only been ready to make recently. Writing the whole plot took years. It's very intricate, so I'm only on issue 4.

Ok, I have to check this comic out! I love the idea of bringing back the reality of the Medieval era. I have to admit, I am one of those people who probably romanticize it more than it should be in my comic, but its more fantasy based, so maybe I can get away with some of it xD

Hey, do whatever you want! It's your story! I have another story that fantasy and crazy like that, haha. Thanks for the support! Show me your comic.

My comic, Lifeline Revolution's main inspiration was Blade Runner and Death Note! And the inspiration from other comics was from Countdown to Countdown!

Bone, Spongebob, Horror surf music, Scooby Doo, D&D and lots of other stuff.

It's not really obvious, but it was due to my faint desire to combine fantasy and noir, even though I didn't read too much of the former. The latter I grew up reading, I fucking loved it.

While my comic is more geared towards mystery and fantasy instead of noir now, I'm currently re-writing and editing the entire storyline so we'll see if I can fit in some concepts of noir.

Well, the inspiration behind my comic is just to make comics about things other people might be thinking or feeling, and just make calming comics that try to show them that its going to be okay and that you just need to stay calm. My comic is called Starlight! https://tapas.io/series/StarlightComics2
