What was the most bewildering thing you had to research for your story/comic?

Question: What is the most confusing/weirdest thing you had to research for your story / comic?
Just a genuine question as I was doing research for mine and I was thinking, HM I wonder what other weird stuff people have looked up.

Well, in my novella, homegirl is rescuing a fawn and she realizes what she was gonna use to stop bleeding, a shirt, wouldn't fit over the body. So, I did some research and learned medieval folks used, go figure, HONEY to patch up minor wounds or wounds overall.

Not exactly research, but something I've experienced, and often thought back on as inspiration for something in my comic. And it's definitely bewildering.

It hasn't happened in a while, but I've had these weird dreams in which I knew what I was seeing wasn't real, yet I couldn't control everything like if it was a lucid dream. I also felt as if I was a wake, and could "wake up" at anytime. I also still heard things as if I was awake, and felt things as if I was awake, but also heard the sounds in the dream. I myself always appeared, and I think I had control over my actions, but I'm not really sure.

So now a question. has anyone else ever expereinced this, or at least something similar, cause it's confused the hell out of me.

I have, but it’s not frequent. It creeps the hell out of me though and I always have to watch anime to calm myself down afterwards

For my novel I have to research autistic characteristics and some Jewish lore

I've had to do an unsightly amount of research into various animals and can now name quite a few from memory going by their latin names. I also developed an obsession with falcons.

Jewish literature sometimes comes up as an elective course at my uni, so I became interested. I’m not Jewish though

You don't have to be interested to learn about jewish culture. I am taking a course about Black history, am I black? Not in the slightest. If you enjoy learning the culture and history, all for it and salute to you.

Searched "Vivid Dream" on google. The name of it is "Lucid Dream" which... is exactly what I said it wasn't.

It sounds like it to me, or perhaps a mixture of it. I don't know what the voice aspect is but it sounds like lucid dreams with an added mixture of, what's the word, regular dreaming? Like I know it isn't;.

Again, it's definately like a lucid dream, but not exact. I have some before, and it's definately different. Then again, that could just be me being conscious during these.

researched a few things really , one was fighting styles, as each of my main hero charcters has mastered 2 schools of fighting, and just trying to find one that can match with the charcters got confusing,also looked up psychic powers/super powers to name each of their abilities, but the most that is till stuggle with has to do with the science in science ficition,even if it is all false got to have legitimate science in there so it is believeable

That's actually great info for me too, and I'll keep it in mind! as my story also occurs in a medieval fantasy world.
I remember, for a mini bonus comic for my actual comic, the princess gave a sweet to her loved Knight guard. OFC I just then realized chocolate was not discovered yet, and had to look which sweet were expensive and royal. Marzipans were an absolute luxury. Sugar was "the white gold" back then, and honey was the poor man's sugar (and even with that, it was hard to get).

I needed to find a something that would explain the "disappearance" of the sun in the world, and I stumbled upon an actual historical moment of the industrial revolution(I can't find the vid rn, I think it was in manchester), where the smoke was so bad once, that the city went dark for days. That worked for my comic specifically. Also researched on how the sun waves work, the phenomena on eclipses, and how the sun is reflected into the world.

Oh, wow, I am so glad my, erm, knowledge helped you. Medieval stuff is so difficult cause part of me wants to makeup random stuff and the other part of me wants to be historically accurate, and it is a constant battle.

Not really bewildering, but more just unusual....but I have been doing some research on blindness and sight impairments. And looking up stuff on the Braille keyboard. I have been also trying to look more into Braille and memorize the alphabet. I also learned that it is common to contact words. Like how ⠺⠕⠍⠢ is a contraction of "Women" even tho it only uses 4 letter. Also learning about Moon Type and stuff.

I am not sure how much of this is actually going to go into my comic but I feel like even if it's just a little, I should still do research on it.

the bewildering thing I had to research for my comic was how long can someone survive with a collapsed lung and what is the best place to inject someone with drugs that will affect the body immediately... this was done for Infinite strike Chapter 4 and 5
