cartoon fans, what was your favorite and least favorite animated show growing up?

Me personally

Favorite: Obviously, I love early Spongebob, but basically anything from Cartoon Network during early 2010s was absolute PEAK in my opinion.

Regular Show and Gumball were my absolute faves, but I also would never miss a new episode of LEGO Ninjago! :fire:

Least Favorite: Either Breadwinners (God i hated that show, but aparently some people liked it) or the 2016 Powerpuff Girls Reboot :unamused:

Most favorite: yuyu Hakusho

Least favorite: pokemon  (I was already a "big kid"... that show was for "little kids" when that came out.)

There were just too many favourites. I grew up during the golden age of Saturday Morning TV cartoons (1970’s-1980’s). We had Scooby Doo, Smurfs, He-Man, She-Ra, Real Ghostbusters, OG Transformers, Gummy Bears, Ducktales, Flintstones (yes, the Flintstones were 1960’s, but they were on in syndication through the 80’s, Bugs Bunny/Tweety show (same idea as Flintstones - older cartoons syndicated in the 80’s), and many, many more. Basically, if it was a thing in the 1980’s it was also a cartoon, breakfast cereal, canned noodle, and video game. Back then we had no dedicated cartoon channels. We watched our cartoons on Saturday Mornings or, later on, at breakfast before school and the Disney Afternoon after school.

My least favourites would be the ones that were obviously pandering, cartoons that didn’t even try to hide the fact that they were just marketing vehicles: Rambo and the Force of Freedom (a kid’s cartoon based on a violent R-rated movie), Bigfoot and the Muscle Machines (because monster trucks are… um… heroic?), and probably the worst of all, Rubik the Amazing Cube (a whole cartoon about a magic talking Rubik’s Cube!)

I mean, just look at this:

I cringe just remembering it.

I was obsessed with Phineas and Ferb for the first three seasons. Same with the Backyardigans.

Could not, still can't, stand Teen Titans Go. Once you see the original, its hard to watch.

Okay I love this! Mind you, I'm a 2008 baby so my tastes aren't really valid.

Favorites: Powerpuff Girls (I had an entire phase), Star vs. The Forces of Evil, Lego Ninjago, Avatar: The Last Airbender, and anything Naruto.

Least Favorite: That one Rabbits Invasion show. It was SOOO annoying.

Yeah I didn't like Rabbids Invasion either, which is weird because I actually really enjoyed the Rabbids video games on the Wii growing up.

The video game was great! But watching the show made me want to take the sharp end of a pencil to my eyes. My younger brother loved it though.

Favorite: The Simpsons. Kids Next Door, Xiaolin Showdown, Kim Possible, Jackie Chan Adventures, Rugrats, Fairly Odd Parents, Spongebob, Dragon Ball Z, Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy

Least: Jay Jay the Jet Plane, Baby Looney Tunes, Caillou, Franklin

I have severe PTSD from Jay Jay the Jet Plane...who the hell thought "lets put weird CGI human skin faces on jet planes!" was a good idea?!

Oh god, you’ve reawakened some long dormant PTSD in me. While I was a 70’s/80’s kid I was exposed to plenty of 2000’s cartoons thanks to watching TV with my niece. Jay Jay is pure nightmare fuel. Dora the Explorer was annoying as well (I still can’t hear the bass line in Supertramp’s Fool’s Overture without thinking “Swiper no swiping!). And there was one I can’t remember the name of with a bunch of cutsey-drawn anthropomorphic animals. The main protagonist was a young girl rabbit with a baby brother. I swear it gave me diabetes.

Favourite: Bagpuss, The Clangers, The Wombles, The Flumps, The Adventures of Larry the Lamb, Scooby Doo.

Most hated: Dora the Explorer, Jackie Chan Adventures, et cetera.

I loved Tom & Jerry, The Smurfs, Captain Future etc.
I disliked everything about Heman

Mine are from the early 70s. Faves were that first season of Scooby Doo, Astronut, Jamie and the Magic Torch (best sig tune EVAR!), Marine Boy, the Eric Thompson run of the magic Roundabout and HERRR-JAAY's ADVENTURES OF TINNNNN-TINNNNN! For some reason I found some early Hanna Barbera like Atom Ant or Secret Squirrel so excruciatingly bad that I couldn't bear to be in the same room as anyone else while it was on.

As a child I would race home from school to catch Starblazers/ Yamato

If we're only talking about hated cartoons when I was a kid and not the endless drek that is seasonal anime and adult cartoons today? GI Joe

Yeah, GI Joe was another mess. American military self-aggrandizing aside, it was a cartoon that "cleaned up" warfare (nobody ever died and the good guys always won) for the sole purpose of selling plastic tanks and planes to young boys. I know most 80's cartoons were basically toy commercials, but GI Joe took it to the extreme. He-man was too, but at least it featured mostly naked hot dudes, an important feature for a young proto-gay such as I was.

I mean, Starblazers was an insanely pro-military work as well. But even the Japanese original wasn't jingoistic like GI Joe was. Matsumoto always had a "love the soldiers, hate the war" take on the genre. (Similar to Garth Ennis, TBH)

GI Joe? Recruitment aimed at kids.

I don't want to diss any shows, so I'll just mention ones I really liked: Word Girl (I was a nerdy kid lol, but it's a very funny show), Phineas and Ferb, I think Young Justice was one, and I know there were some others but I really can't remember which ones I loved the most. Dan Povenmire (Phineas and Ferb) is actually one of my biggest writing inspirations so...
