What Was Your First Comic?

I think first, first one was recording a dumb/ silly scene in Territory War (PvP mode) in an MMO I used to play back when. I pretty much started with drawing by doing lots of mmo fanart lol.

Dear God, this question brings me back. I was in middle school at the time when my sisters and I started our first comic series, Justice Teens. It was inspired by our love of Teen Titans and superheros. Although it was pretty cringe worthy, it's impressive how dedicated and prolific we were, spanning many issues.

Afterschool we would each work on a page for Justice Teens and even created a mock newspaper called VFD news (very fun days, I think we took that from Series of Unfortunate Events but changed the achonymn) where we would input articles and create comic strips to accompany them. I look back at these memories fondly.

My first comic ever? Geez...a knock-off "Green Lantern" comic( I was a big Flash & Green Lantern comic book kid when I was little). When I hit 6th grade, I started drawing this one "kinda X-Men" like comic(guess what my fave comic book was at that time? Lol) on notebook paper which I pretty much drew up til I graduated high school & went to art school.

Impressive! I'm more of a Dragon Ball fan and I'm kinda making characters have similar powers with some differences. I guess you and I are kinda alike xD

My first online comic was a story called Ghost-chan. it was about a ghost girl who woke up with no memories and runs into a boy named Kyo who can see ghosts. It was hand drawn and colored with colored pencils. It was made back when I was in high school.

My first cartoon was a strip about worms. I was ten years old and I took the drawings to the local newspaper. The staff cartoonist was really nice when he let me down.

Aw geez, I don't even know which one to consider my "first". Two candidates come to mind. Like when I was in elementary school (7 or 8 years old, I guess), I would draw these silly characters I thought I invented. I called them "power cats" (like, in english even though my mother tongue is german, because obviously english sounded way cooler). Some cat people with superpowers. I thiiiink I might have done something with panels back then, but my memory is blurry and as you would expect these drawings where just nonsense from a child. I think I just saw Thundercats one day and somehow thought cat people where my idea xD

When I was around 15 or so I then really tried to make a comic. I watched a lot of Anime at the time and the influences are clear. It is pretty cringe, I still have the pages floating around here somewhere. Since I couldn't draw for shit I gave up after a few pages and instead wrote an 80 pages long monstrosity of a "book" out of it. It has vampires, it has werewolves and it is all filled with so much angst. ^^

It's about ... now listen, this is super original ... this girl that gets turned into a vampire after her parents died. And her vampire dad is super nice, but of course also dies (by werwolves). And then this girl goes on a journey and is filled with HATE and she meets a werewolf and they begrudgingly work together, even though they hate each other, and then there is some guy with magic, and they form this team... I don't know. I didn't have a story, I just had a lot of dramatic feels The comic pages I can still kinda look at today. It's just one scene. But the word file of the story I can't open. I just... can't xD

So yeah, my firsts did never get finished.... buuuut they where just childs play anyway. What I am doing now is what I really consider my first

It was a Pikachu fancomic written originally by my sister (age 8) and cleaned and drawn by me (age 11). Basically it was the story of a tail-less pikachu superhero who could talk and defeat bad guys. We had a skinny pikachu plush, and a round, fat plush, so we named out two tail-less characters Fat pikachu and Skinny pikachu. Later, we started adding human characters as sidekicks. They were witches based on the celestial bodies and aptly named so: Luna, Soleil, and Stella. Then somehow my sis kept blowing up the fancomic story to include a strange pink-haired guardian of a floating island(?) and there was some strange rock-lee lookalike martial artist character.

I've got the first comic I did as an amateur, the first comic I worked on professionally, then the first comic that got published.

I'm an incorrigible music geek, so in high school and college and as a college music major, where I should have been taking notes, I instead had doodles of music theory-inspired characters like Supertonic doing battle with the villainous Diabolos in Musicam and the Locrian Mode.

Being more of a writer than an artist, I did a couple of fan scripts just to prove I could write a comic book script. That led to my first professional gig. Hero by Force was supposed to be a comic book series, but on account of my collaborator's repeated deployments (How dare war interfere with our creative endeavors!), we decided I should rewrite it and publish it as a collection of novellas.

The first comic in which I was published turned out to be a pretty big deal. Untold Stories from Iraq and Afghanistan was the biggest benefit comic book for veterans' charities ever. I was one of over sixty creators who volunteered for the project, and it felt a little overwhelming for a relative noob like me to work with some heavy hitters from Marvel and DC, but the experience changed my life, as you can see with the comics I have up here.

This reminds me a lot of something my friends and I did in middle school! We didn't get far at all (only part of a single issue complete) but we were going to make a knock-off shonen jump with all of our own stories (novels and comics) filling it xD We even went so far as making our own crossword puzzle to put in it like a newspaper, a written out letter from the editors, and I hand drew ads for some games I was into at the time, like Guitar Hero and The World Ends With You. Still have all of that stuff + the cover art in my pile of old drawings.

Yeah! I love looking through my old drawings periodically xD I have a surprising amount of it still around. Sadly there's a few big chunks of things missing that I hope I find in storage someday... a naruto fan comic I made in 7th grade, a pokemon one where we made fun of my friend's sister, and those "FRED" comics I talked about in my earlier reply in this thread xD

OH MAN. I just remembered a comic me and my younger brother drew forever ago. We had characters based on our pets at the time and they all went to university together? We called it Pigendale, the university in question, possibly inspired by the name Hogwarts but sans magic.

All of the students and staff were cartoon animals a la Garfield, our one major comic inspiration lol. I'm pretty sure there were no humans in this world?! I have no idea if he saved the original pages or not, this was years ago...

Also, we had a superhero AU of this before either of us knew what an AU even was. Good times

In all likelihood, this was the first actual comic I ever made. With help, of course.
