What was your first relationship like?

In my life so far, I've had one "relationship" with a girl, and she was the first person to admit that they liked me. However after two weeks and a couple of dates, I realized that I really didn't know her enough to say that I liked her back. I was only in a flabbergasted state that someone could actually like me... So I wanted to take a step back and be her friend, a best friend, a true friend. I wanted to get to know her much more. However she was like a high-schooler and I was inexperienced, so I blew it. I was the jerk, even though I had the best intentions, and didn't want to hurt her by lying to her by trying to keep the relationship, so end of relationship and end of budding friendship.

It depends on your definition of relationship ahah.
There were confessions and going out once or twice, but my first relationshipy, relationship was a flump.

lasted maybe 6 months? Long story short, she had this best friend who'd liked her forever (since they were in diapers),
while we were together he let slip that he loved her oodles and oodles.
I got cold feet, acted like a spaz. She dumped me, started dating him about a month later.

Pretty sure they recently got engaged (it's been about 7 years) , so in hindsight I'm happy for them but at the time it cut. ahah

Well, for first "official-he's my boyfriend-we're facebook official" type of relationship would have to be my current bf! We've been together for 4 years now, currently long-distance - which is hard, but not a make or break like some view it to be. I was pretty jaded about relationships when I met him haha But he persistently showed me that he liked me for who I truly was, not just some aspect of me or a fantasy of me that he had, and that really won me over. We were in a traditional Korean drumming group together as students in college, of which I was a leader/teacher at the time. I was asked to demonstrate a move in front of the class and he started falling for me when he saw me prancing around, drumming haha ///^^///

I had a long-distance type thing before, but I think my first real relationship is the actual one I have. He is my collegue at my workplace, we work kinda in a team. First I couldn't think at him as someone to love, but I noticed that I started to show my real self when I was with him, and forgot the guy who broke my heart. First he thought that I don't like him at all, so he started to date with an other collegue of us, so I was like "Oh no! An unrequited love again! T.T " But it turned out good, when I got to know that they're not together, and actualy he is more interested in me
And now...We're a couple for more than a year, and live together :)))

I have not been single for 24 hours since the 9th grade.

But I've had 3 boyfriends.

Sure says a lot about my character, dun'it? xD" Nah, it's just a matter of coincidence, really. My first relationship was great. I was only in 9th grade, he was in 10th, so we didn't have to worry about living or problems that you have to worry about when you get older. We just basked in each other's company. I was never angry in that relationship, and looking back, there wasn't anything wrong with it, it just ended very abruptly, and unfortunately, one of us ended up alone for years (not me though lol)

Second relationship sucked. Not even gonna talk about it. Seriously, there's no point in digging through the garbage if there's nothing in there to find.

And now I'm in a relationship with Daulton/Miko, and we've been together for almost 3 years (it'll be 3 years in September). We're living together, and we're doing pretty good :3 We've had a few nasty bumps here and there, but we're still pulling through u w u <3

oh man, my first relationship was really depressing and a really dark time for me though I learned a lot from it. I'll spare you guys the details, though I have no problem talking about it, but it was 10 years ago and during that time same sex relationships were still very demonized by people. Our relationship caused a lot of turbulence in our small school but we braved through it for the year we were together. Then some worse things happened and we were forced to break up though we tried to keep it through letters (this was when cell phones were very new and very expensive and internet was still new so a lot of people didn't have those things). Then she stopped writing to me and i found out years later that she had turned her back on equal rights for same sex couples and she became a religious extremist.

I only had one relationship and I married him. o w o

We were in college. He was trying to start up an anime club to find some more friends of same interest. Me being overly helpful and wanting more friends because I was lonely, I wanted to help out. The club failed, but we found each other and that's all we really cared about. After a year or so of dating we decided to marry. Married for 4 years now.

My first relationship was a disaster right from the start. To start off there was a guy who was harassing me in school- like...ugh my skin crawls when I think about it. My not yet boyfriend at the time saw him doing this but couldn't do anything at that moment since I was closer to the front of the class and he was in the back. After class he told me to let him know if he does it again. He hung out with me a lot so that jerk would leave me alone and my sense of security came back, then after a while a relationship started and now that you're halfway through reading this you may be thinking-
"What could possibly go wrong?" Well my dad's girlfriend had two daughters and we lived with them and one of them had a huge crush on the guy I was going out with and once she found out she cried about it and I got in trouble because her daughter couldn't get what she wanted, my dad tried to defend me but the girlfriend was overpowering and my boyfriend and I had to end it because the situation made everything awkward, it also ended my dad's relationship with his girlfriend as well because the situation wasn't my fault and yet I still got attacked for it which he didn't like. So in the end two relationships went down the toilet.

Wow... a lot of people are still together or have married their first girlfriend/boyfriend! Very cool

I'm actually really happy I ended my first relationship. He kinda became somewhat of an alcoholic and started sleeping around, so, yeah...nobody needs drama like that!

Wow.. It sucks that it ended that way. The guy you dated sounds like a pretty decent guy. Not everyone can do what he did to get people away from harassment. In any case, kudos to your dad for leaving that lady.

@ErithEl it's alright ^_^ it happened about seven years ago, life in that house was never stable anyway, my dad's gf actually used to beat him up and since men can't hit women he couldn't do anything about it really, the night she yelled at me was the last straw for him. After that, my father, brother and me all moved out and we were happy ever since. If there has been anyone who has had horrible relationships it's definitely my poor father. If he was on this site and telling his relationship stories, oh boy. My poor dad has been through hell xD

@TristanJensen, you're not alone, bruh, lol.

I... Don't even know if my first relationship was even a relationship at all. We both agreed that we liked each other but... We never had the initiative to do anything, like, not even a date or holding hands. We just chatted online some and go back to playing video games or drawing, lol. The relationship silently ended when I had to leave to Japan to study.

A handful of years have passed since I came to Japan and my attempts at getting into relationships failed, lol. The guys I adored all expressed that they were physically attracted to me but didn't want to date me because they were afraid of jeopardising our close friendships (in one case, risking his professional relationship with my brother). Could be simply because they didn't like my personality all that much. Ah well.

As of now, I'm not actively looking for a partner. I'm focusing on building my own happiness on my own-- which is becoming harder given that I'm in a foreign country with no family nearby XD;
